Topic: RE: Is Mgb covered by insurance?
This is a good choice especially with its success and low cost. I don't think it is covered but check out the website to be sure http://clos.net. Most folks are finding ways to pay because it is a great surgery. Good luck!
Topic: Is Mgb covered by insurance?
I am sure that some one around may know. Is MGB covered by insurance. I am looking into it but it will never happen if I have to pay out of pocket because I do not have the money and I do not have good enough credit to get a loan. If it is covered by insurance then it will be a possibility. It seems to be my last hope and I do not want to go into a surgery that is to invasive. MGB according to what I have read is the least invasive and has the least risks. that is what I am looking for . I have 3 kids to keep up with and I work full time but I have had the hardest time losing weight and every time I lose some I end up gaining it back and then some. So I need to know if it covered by insurance.
Topic: Some Questions from an interested girl
HI,
I am 18 yrs old, an Ontario resident and I have a body fat percentage of 40% I do not have any actual diseases from being obese but I do suffer from the typical back pain, shortness of breath and overall discomfort. I have been sufering from depression for years because of my weight. I am also suffering from a compulsive eating disorder that makes it extremely hard to lose wieght using any type of diet or any amount of working out. I feel that I am going to have to do something drastic inorder to turn my life around. I was wondering also where you would start in trying to go about getting this surgery? Will any of the things i have listed above help or hurt my chances? I am completely lost when it comes to these facts. I am away at college right now and so it is difficult for me to make appointments with my doctor so as much info that i can gather here would be greatly appreciated. Please any help is great :)
thank you

Topic: RE: vsg vs mini gastric bypass
Hi Ellen,
It is good that you are doing the research. Knowledge is the first step to deciding what you do. The VSG actually removes part of your stomach. There is no reversal. It is permanent. The MGB is reversable because nothing is removed. This is a good thing if something should go wrong like a life threatening illness where getting all the nutrition you can get is important for your health or if malabsorption becomes a critical issue, for example. In the MGB, at least six feet of the small intestines is bypassed so that about 25% of your calorie intake is eliminated. The VSG does not bypass anything. The only thing the VSG does is decrease how much you eat and removes body parts, most of the stomach. That's the basic difference between the two. Hope this helps.

Topic: vsg vs mini gastric bypass
Hi Everyone,
I have been researching for weeks now, I am having trouble getting a clear comparison. Other than the bypass part, What is the difference between the sleeve and the mini bypass ?
If anyone knows where I could get a visual on this I would very much like to see it.
Thanks so much
Ellen

It's interesting you posted this when I found out that Dr R just started a UTube site. I joined that and found other interesting places to visit. Thanks

Hi,
I am not aware of anyone there. You can check on the http://clos.net website and ask them if they know anyone. I know some great plastic surgeons down in Costa Rica when you get to that point, however. Good luck!
