What is Chronic Illness?
"A chronic illness is a condition that lasts a year or longer, limits activity, and may require ongoing care. More than 125 million Americans have at least one chronic condition, such as diabetes, cancer, glaucoma, heart disease, Fibromyalga, Multiple Sclerosis, and Lupus. Nearly half as many have more than one chronic condition."
Hello,
This group was specifically created for WLS candidates and post ops who like me face the unique challenges that living with a chronic illness may often present. As individuals with a chronic illness, we face greater challenges that the typical mainstream weight loss surgery patient may not face. Sometimes we feel left out of the loop as we read about others who are doing certain activities that we are no longer able to fully tolerate.
You may find the group by clicking on groups in your index. Once at groups, type in the word Chronic Illness in the search box and the correct group will appear.
Thank you for your interest,

Topic: What exactly IS "mini" gastric bypass?
I never knew there was even such a surgery. Honestly I'd rather hear it from someone who's been through it than to get just a technical/medical definition.
Topic: RE: Just want to eat junk.... HELP!!!!
Hi,
On the surface, it looks like you are using the junk for comfort for your loss and I am sorry. Talking to someone who is familiar with working with folks after a trauma may be a good way to go. I think they may be able to help you find another way to cope. In the meantime, get rid of the stuff in your house, find something you enjoy doing that is healthy. Could be reading or a craft or something that gives you pleasure. Get a massage if you can. I find those very relaxing. Keep in touch, again I am so sorry for your loss.

I am always up for someone to talk to. I feel weird being able to eat food now. I liked it better when a bite was enough to fill me. Is that normal after 7 months after surgery? I just had a miscarriage 1.5 weeks ago. Maybe that is why I want to eat sugary stuff?! But how do I not do it??? Yes I do have it in the house... but even cereal is sweet, i wanna eat it too. UGGGG! WHY WHY!

Hi,
I know how you feel. If I have it in the house, I will eat it. Being addicted to sugar and carbs are easy to do. Do you have to have it in the house? Sometimes we have triggers that cause us to eat. Maybe take a good look at what is going on in your life and see if you recognize some things that trigger these cravings. Yes having someone to talk to when the temptation hits is a good idea. You said you haven't felt like this before. Felt like what? It's not strange to be able to eat it. I wish I couldn't some times lol. Hang in there. I am here if you want to talk. This is a pretty quiet board.

You are very smart. Please let this person do her bad thing. You can call any of their staff to get people who have had a great experience and can tell you how they were taken care of.

good gravy..MacMadame, you are like cancer, you spread yourself all over. Some of us have had Almanza, and we are still alive and walking. Since she is giving her OPINION on Betancourt, who does not do surgery, why are you putting Almanza down? Young, yes, inexperienced? no.. I would rather has a young Doctor who knows all the new procedures, than an old fart who has his staff do most of the surgery. MacMadwoman, go back to LapBandTalks where people just love you there

Hi,
You can sabatoge any surgery. Not one is exempt. It's just how committed you are to take full advantage of the tool of choice and it is your choice. Rate the pros and cons of all.
