Topic: RE: New Group For the Members Of The State Of Indiana
Hi,
Good luck in your group. It took well over a year for mine to get off the ground. It was so totally well worth the patience. Now, I am running 10-12 and growing! So don't get discouraged if it doesn't start with a bang.
By the way, I grew up in Indiana. A little town, well not so little now, called Plainfield.

Topic: RE: For a Better Life: Obesity Surgery in Mexicali
I agree that WLS certainly takes care of many weight related problems. I looked in Mexico but decided I wanted to go to a country I felt safe in. I went to Costa Rica and had my surgery with
Dr. Quesada. I had an MGB and it is a live changing and life saving surgery. I currently do not take any medications and had been on 10. I love my new body and I am certainly happy about my health. It was also wonderful going ot a country that is so peaceful. I went back again for my
cosmetic surgery.

Hi Michelle,
What surgery are you having? The nutritional and supplemental needs of both men and women are similar. However, some may need more iron or B12. Some women need adjustments to balance hormone levels. Bariatric Advantage has a great probiotic supplement. You should be able to research it here on OH. Enjoy your journey to good health!

Topic: Pre-Op preparation for surgery
Hi! I am new at this forum. I will have the surgery on 29th of September and i am researching for addtional tips on how to prepare myself for the surgery. Is there a diffrence on women and men when it comes to vitamins? Does anyone suggest to take probiotics prior to surgery? I do have a great team and i do ask these questions to them as well. I just want to tap into the forum to see if any one has an suggestions. Thanks!

Hi,
That is a problem for sure. I would get your phone book out and start calling all GPs. I would try calling clos.net. I know it is long distance but at least you would get a quick response. I wish I had more to offer but sometimes we have to be aggresive to get what we need.

Topic: RE: Tell me some things you LIKE about your body now
I like my curves and my tiny waist. I like my breasts and my upper body. I like how my butt looks in jeans.
BTW, this is a really good post, unfortunately since MGB is a relatively rare surgery, not alot of people seem to be on this board.
I had a standard RNY and I just accidentally happened across this forum, not even sure how I got here. But you might want to repost this on the main board. I bet you'll get many more responses.

Topic: Finding a new way to look at things...
Like most of us, I have times when I just don't take as care of myself as I should. I have started to do something that seems to be helping me focus on doing the things that I need to do and I thought I'd share it with you. I now start my day thinking about something I appreciate in each of the following categories: appearance, health and quality of life. I started doing this because I had started focusing on negative things, such as my turkey neck or that I wasn't doing something I should be doing. This little morning exercise makes me take a moment to focus on why I did this and then what I 'WANT' to do to keep the those things in place... The things I like vary, but the impact of this has been huge. I can get a little too focused on my excess skin and that's why I decided to find something I like about my appearance. I try to find something that I appreciate about my health and quality of life because it makes me focus on why I want to make choices that will allow me to continue to enjoy my improved health and quality of life.

Topic: Help For A Canadian :(
Good Morning gals!
I've emailed clos.net 3 times with my questions and haven't heard anythng, also posted in the Alberta forum with no luck, so I figured what do I have to lose to try here :)
I am in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and up here it's a pain to try and find a GP that's actually accepting patients - I finally found out and she is not supportive of WLS.
I qualify for the same-day MGB and would love to get this going, but am currently at a stand still
as I have no GP that would be willing to be supportive or even participate in the info I need for my packet.
Does anyone have any advice??
Thanks very much,
Sad Canuck :(
