Topic: RE: What is a minnie gastric bypass ???
Hi
I'm Dr. Rutledge
The MGB (Mini-Gastric Bypass) is a 2 part bypass surgery
Part 1 is a gastric pouch very much like a sleeve
Part 2 is a distal (long) bypass that uses a LOOP type connection
The Loop connection really bothers a lot of US Drs (they fear bile reflux and its complications)
We have one over 6,000 MGBs with very little bile reflux problems (it Does happen)
Surgeons around the world are now adopting the MGB and reporting very good results
(England, France, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Austria, Israel, Lebanon, Trukey, India, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Mexico and through out South America)
Advocates of the MGB see it as shorter, safer, more powerful and maybe most important easily revised if needed.

Hi,
Sorry you are having such a struggle. Have you searched the OH site. I know there is a list of doctors on here who take that. You can contact the OH staff directly and ask. This is a great website to get answers. Don't give up!

Hi,
Go to http://clos.net to get the scoop on it. What it is in essence is that a small pouch about the size of a magic marker is made, then about six feet of the small intestines are bypassed. At that point, your new pouch is attached. That is the layman's explanation for it.

My Doctor has a referal to give whomever I can find. Its just there isnt any doctors willing to take my medicaid. If you know of someone or can please guide me in the right direction i really need to go ahead and start this process. My health is very important. I have tried personal trainers, weight loss programs, gym and I cant seem to do it that way. I have a 4 year old son and a disabled husband who depend on me and I would like to be around to spend my life with them. Anything and any suggesions will help.

Topic: RE: MGB and Bowel Issues
Hi,
This is probably a patient specific question. I know, in many cases, it is related to food choices. Some folks have different tolerances to foods after surgery. For example, suddenly you become lactose intolerant. Many issues do change in time, but even myself being 10 years out, I can eat something that worked one time but not the next time and I am in the bathroom. Also, with this surgery, a lot of the fats we eat will come out in our bathroom toilet and it will look weird. So, that's about it. If there are other issues, then you will need to ask your surgeon what may cause it. I hope this helps.

I am getting my MGB in 10 days, and I am wondering if everyone gets chronic diarrhea? I read that some people have to run to the bathroom many times in a day. And I am wondering if this is true in all people that have had the MGB?
Topic: Singles WLS convention
Hi all
Would anyone be interested in attending a singles WLS weekend event or convention? The locations could maybe fluctuate between north, south, east and west coast each year. I would love to attend something like this with other singles but we would need enough interest before it could be planned. Not sure the exact events that would be involved until we know the around what the head count would be, but I'm thinking support groups, a singles dance, speakers, business expo maybe, etc. Please let me know. Thanks!
