I just learned about the MGB.  Is this better than the sleeve.  i am contemplating surgery in the next few months.

Hi,

The best thing I can recommend is do the research. Read as much as  you can about both, compare then make your decision. Every procedure acts differently in each patient. So you can start by going to the MGB website at: http://clos.net and then branch out from there.

Good luck!

No, it's not.

The Sleeve preserves your pylorus and all normal stomach function. It allows you to still take NSAIDs, prevents dumping, and doesn't leave you with an un-scopable remnant stomach. Long-term results are about the same, but the Sleeve has far fewer potential complications.

OMG no. There are plenty of plusses for the sleeve, but not the other way around. Keep researching.

The mini gastric bypass here is seen to give better results than sleeve. Studies show that 90% of patients having an MGB had been cured of diabetes post the surgery and 50% of those that had undergone sleeve had been cured of the same. So however, i think MGB is better than sleeve.

Something to consider is that the MGB is not a popular surgery.   If you experience complications, and your doctor i**** by a bus, or retires, you may have difficulties finding someone who is familiar with this surgery to treat you.
