Can anyone recommend MGB surgeons in Mexico?
Thank you for that info......I winter in Belize and as a result I travel through Mexico a couple of times a year. That makes Mexico very convenient for me.....but not if I can't find a good surgeon there.
This whole process is scary enough without having doubts about the skill or the character of your surgeon.

Mini Gastric Bypass on 09/27/11
I have a surgeon named Dr. Sergio Verboonen who does this surgery and he is located in Cancun which I suppose is closest to where you will be winter time. He is trhrough a International Patient Facilitators and a lady called Sheri Burke is the facillitator. Very nice. Lots of good records too. I'm doing surgery with him in Sept.
I had Surgery with him. He know's who I am. I think he has a pretty good heart but when he was in TJ his associate was not the greatest, Verboonen is one of the worlds most skilled surgeons, however I was attacked and assaulted surgicaally after he removed my band. Verboonen knows in hiss heart what was done to me was a crime against humanity. He has not contacted me to help me in my five year struggle to recover from what was done to me. I gave him time. He did not call.
Perhaphs he has moved to can****o get away from the corupt clinic that assaulted me while I was in post op recovery. I liked him. I trusted him. I expected more from him. He knows who I am. 2006 mid band-2007 Mid band removal, then Assault while in and out of general anesthesia.
I think he has compassion but that clinic in TJ showed me none.

Hi VVrancher,
I am in Oregon. On 04/16/11 I had mini gastric bypass with Dr. Jose Castaneda Cruz (through Medical Tourism Co.) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Dr. Castaneda did a wonderful job. I have had no complications whatsoever, and have lost 50 pounds so far. Not only is Dr. Castaneda a great surgeon, but a very, very nice man, as well.
The surgery itself cost $6,900; beyond that, I stayed for a week in a nearby resort following surgery to recuperate and follow up with the doctor.
I had a good experience all around.

Hi Gloria,
When I was researching wls I requested Dr. Castaneda's statistics from Medical Tourism Corporation. I don't recall the exact numbers, but he has done many bypass and sleeve surgeries .... close to 200 of those specifically mgb. My reading indicates that the learning curve for surgeons on the mgb is suggested to be over 100 for best safety and success.
I did speak in advance with two of Dr. Castaneda's earlier patients, and post-surgery with another. All very happy with their results.
If I had known how well everything would go, I would have done this way sooner. But I was a scaredy cat. :o)
