Very Frustrated!
My packet is complete...all of my parts at least. Now I am waiting on my Dr for her approval letter for the surgery. I had some blood drawn and my ALT numbers were high. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with a fatty liver....GO FIGURE, look at the rest of my body, this is why I want to have the MGB surgery.... (well, just one of the reasons).
So, now i was sent to a liver specialist, he ran more blood tests, said the tests he ran all were ok, but he was still concerned with the fatty liver...so, now I am waiting to find out about going for a liver biopsy..then they have to get the results, review them with me, send them to my fam doc, then have the normal blood tests needed for pre op, then finally the MGB surgery, I hope....as long as its just a fatty liver and not cirrosis or liver disease (i am only 36, non-drinker??? ??? ??? )
It just really sucks that I thought the end was so near, now I just got pushed back so far with the liver specialist and whatever this new problem and the ssteps i have to do is....
I was planning on having the MGB surgery on March 11, 2011....Hoping, praying and crossing my fingers that all of the other stuff can be completed in time and still aim for March 11.

I am not having it in Vegas with Dr R. I am having it done in Fl with Dr. Peraglie..he trained under Dr R.
They know about this hiccup. my surgery is still "scheduled" for March 11.....as long as my family doc signs off, i am waiting for her to do this...and in between, i have to get the biopsy done.....
Flo, Dr Peraglie's med. assistant and I have been on close communication, i told her that i wanted to stick with the 3/11 date if we could, depending on everything else....and she said that it was not a problem, and just to take my time and if we need to push the date back a little that that was ok, just to keep in touch with them and when i am cleared and ready that we can go from there......
by no means are they 'upset' that i may have to take a little more time, they are very understanding and do not have any problems keeping the date or pushing it back by a week, month, doesn't matter.......
BUT, that does not help with my frustration, I was so happy and anxious to get the ball rolling with my new life, now..slam, into this brick wall........

I did not come out and flat out ask...but this is the info that i got from all of my docs....
the MGB surgeon will not do the procedure until my fam doc signs off on it, my fam doc wont sign off on it until i get the results from the liver biopsy...i am stuck in the tricke down effect......the biopsy is set for Feb 7....i see the specialist on the 18th of feb for the results, i am hoping to see the fam doc on the 21st of feb and have labs done and mail my packet in to the surgeon by the 25th of feb to keep my March 11 surgery date......aaarrrgggghhhhhhhhhh!!!

Sounds like u and i possible had the surgery on the same dat. I was on 3/11/11....I am doing really well. How are you doing? any complications? or any troubles? i was sore for about a solid week....now, i am good...just ready to move to the thicker foods, i am just about OVER this broth!!! LOL

Just as a followup to my FIASCO earlier........

MGB Surgery COMPLETED on 3/11/11....CHECK!!!!
I am now just about 2 weeks post op and down 15 pounds! I am so happy that I decided to do this and to start living my life again!!!!!

YAY!!! liver biposy done, liver results done, guess what fatty liver...go figure, the liver doc said that to reverse the effects on my liver i had to lose at least 20% of my overall weight...so thats 60 pounds...after surgery that should be not a problem.
So the specialist cleared me, i had my final labs, my family doc cleared me, my packet has been sent to the surgeon, and I am still on schedule for march 11! I am so excited, i cannot wait 15 days to go!!
