concerns of mini gastric bypass
I've been googling all over the place about the MGB. ONe of the troubling things to me as how dr rutledge seems to be the only game in town. He has another facility he works with in Fl which apparently gives him a fee back from preforming his surgery, but it seems it's frowned upon by every other well known bariatric surgeon. I think there are several reason for this, 1) it's based on a procedure done (bills something or other surgery) which has been in abandoned due to severe complications. Yeah, I know for all the Dr. Rutledge apologists, he does his different, and everyone has been very happy with their surgery blah blah blah, but one wonders when a new procedure comes up for any type of surgery many specialists in teh field will repeat the surgerical technique if they believe it's worthy of learning.
IN this instance no well known bariatric drs working in a hospital, particularly of the designation of "bariatric center of excellence" will touch this procedure. All of this is disappointing to me as I really want to go for it.
But it's is very disturbing that one guy has the market on the procedure and those he trained like the doc in florida he gets a piece of the action which to me is like a sales person getting a commission. Couple with his disiplinary action in NV for withholding information was to his disiplinary actions from the NC medical board. Obviously he withheld this on purpose. He got caught and amended his app. This is not a surgeon that has the highest scruples as a physician. And if so few are taking up his procedure one wonders. Also any "research" are by him and there is NO INDEPENDENT research to back up his claimes on his web site. BTW, his web site looks cheesy like that of a guy selling a cadie. As always this is my opinion.

I have heard very few surgeons praise other doctor's wls procedures. The best thing I would suggest is go directly to the source. Talk to him. ask him all your questions and concerns. You will find him extremely informative and can give you all the supportive documentation you need. Call him on his cell phone. Keep calling until he answers. Doctors tend to be very busy. His contact info is at http://clos.net. Also, he has gone global. He is not only in the U.S. now. He has trained other surgeons all over the world. Information and knowledge is the key. Taking other peoples opinions is not always the facts. However, the choice is yours regardless of what procedure you choose. Educate yourself from the sources not from what other people think. Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.
If you were on the website why didn't you read the manual to understand what the procedure is and what is used to be called? Also If your serious about looking for surgery then why the bashing instead of asking questions that sound like you wanted serious information instead of stabs?
I looked for over a year and was never so rude about it. You may want to talk to some of his patients before you make a judgement. After searching for you on this whole web site...your not even on any other kind of WLS forum with same kind of questioning. Every Surgery has it risks. None are perfect. You have to find the one that suit you.
