what is it like after mini bypass
Hi,
Everyone is different. Some dump because they find they ate something their tummy wasn't ready for or too spice for them or whatever. I hate dumping. The only time I come close is when I don't chew well or try to eat too fast. Both of these are good habits to have even if you don't have surgery. So, I try to take my time and enjoy my meal.

Hi,
Yes I have and if you have the same procedure, you will have to prepare a packet that involves 12 different steps from reading the patient manual, to getting 10 postop letters, family support letter, a letter from you stating why you want it and what you understand about it etc. By the time you complete your packet, you will be very knowledgeable about the whole procedure and what to expect before, during and after surgery. Once your packet is approved, you are good to go.
For information, go to http://clos.net and click on "start here".

If MGB stands for mini bypass, then yes I am researching it.
I originally was paying cash to have the lap band done. Then I went in to see the doctor, and from my height 5'4 and weighing 233, he wanted me to think about the bypass, and I told him I would.
I didn't know at the time that the bypass was done laproscopic, and that the usual amount of weight is 50% with lap band. He has had a lot of people get the band and then come back for the bypass. He has seen better results over long term with the bypass. nine years ago I knew alot of people that had the stapling done, (also my husband). and they went through alot with the food coming back up and everything, even liquids, you just never knew. But I don't as of yet know anyone that has had the bypass. I do understand that everyone is so different, and also the surgeons matter also.
thanks

Hey mapps1982,
I was researching mini gastric bypass and came across Dr. Rutledge's websit also as previously mentioned. I am sure other surgeons perform this surgery too, but if you go to his website and download the packet as suggested by a previous poster and actually read it, you will be very knowledgeable about not only the MGB, but also the Roux en Y gastric bypass. You do not need to fill out and send in all the information unless you want to have the surgery performed by Dr. Rutledge. Dr. Rutledge only does the mini gastric bypass. I hope this helps. Good luck in your journey!
