As I research possible doctors, I see that some say the need for only mild painkillers and some say they will offer other methods like the pump for morphine. Which did you recieve and were you told the same or different before surgery when you scheduled your surgery?

Hi,

Many times, you have to ask for the pump for after surgery.  However, maybe I have a low tolerance for pain, but I didn't get a lot of benefit from the pump.  I was only in the hospital overnight.  After that, it was just putting up with a little discomfort from the laproscopic wounds.

I think if you talk to your surgical staff about your wishes, they will comply.  Most are accommodating in that they want you to be comfortable.
