Hello
A little over a year ago I was here wanting to have WLS however I ended up becoming pregnant by surprise. It was a blessing in disguise because now I am done although due to my weight this was the most difficult pregancy ever and now I am at my highest weight 250lbs on a 5'1 inch frame. I lost a little of the baby weight (like 20lbs) but that is it. I have tried walking but it hurts my ankles and I kinda waddle instead of walk now. My baby is now 4 months and I feel that I should start my research on what kind of WLS would be best for me. I don't have much faith in the band because of the amount of weight I have to lose. I have slowly been gaining weight then I diet and I lose and then gain more and then some. I am always hungry. I want my life back, I have 4 kids and this summer has been so sad because it took me longer to recover from my C-section, then I ended up with and Incicional hernia so I had to have surgery again to repair it. I ended up with a 12 in*****ision and healing for that was so long because of my fat.  I have no life, I can't do any activities with the boys because I get tired or my back hurts or my joints hurt. I do know that my insurance covers bariatric surgery but I am unsure of the process. Any information is appreciated.

Hi there!

Well, if you plan to use your insurance, you need to find out what procedure it covers and what they requires such as a record of past diet attempts, etc.  Each insurance company has their own pre-authorization requirements.  Find a good personal care physician who is experienced in working with bariatric patients.  Then, research a good surgeon who has a great track record and has lots of bariatric experience.    Your doctor may have some recommendations but the final choice is yours.  I think this will keep you busy for awhile.  The MGB, at present, is not covered by insurance.  If you want to research it, however, the website to visit is http://clos.net.

Good luck!

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

I would like to suggest medical tourism as a option.

Please feel free to reply to my message if you got any questions.

Good luck!
