need urgent honest opinion

Hi all
Please could anybody in the group give me some honest answers to the two questions below. I am a failed Lap-Band patient and I need to urgently decide between mini gastric bypass or R&Y bapass

1. does MGB also cause "dumping syndrome" - if not what happens if you start soft calorie cheating like with the band
2. There are certain sites that make mention of MGB being a rehash of a very old procedure in which patients suffer extreme complications at a later date. Mention is made of ulcers and acid leaking into the stomach. It is claimed that the procedure was first known as a loop bypass. Is this true ?

I have two weeks left in which to make a decision, I am not ready for a gastric bypass but I am also now willing to undergo heaps of medical problems for the sake of being thin.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Andre,

You can find answers to these questions by going to CLOS.net.  Good luck.

The site is brilliant but one sided, If I look at the amount of Lap-band sites that praise the system but none of them mention the long term problems that we are now aware of ??

Thanks again

Well, the mini bypass is banned by the American Association of Bariatric Surgery that considers the operation too dangerous!!!
I would never give a try...(I was proposed one!)
Go with the safest: RYGB. The sleeve has also a very good reputation!

This is just a total lie. The MGB was and is not banned by anyone. Please point us to some documentation to prove this total load of B.S.!

Perhaps too late for you, but I had the MGB and have not had dumping.  There have been complications but nothing severe.  I'd do it again or I might try the lapband procedure instead.  I lost 100 pounds but keeping it off after 18 months is a struggle.

Good Morning Tom,

Not to late at all, because of the lack of response from members on the group, it seemed that long term results were not forthcoming. I am a lap-band looking for a conversion. As much as I am sure I am going to receive complaints for saying this it seems that the SLEEVE is one of the better processes. Not only can the process be banded at a later stage but you could also undergo a full bypass.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I gained back all my weight with the band (self - sabotage), good luck with your journey
