I never knew there was even such a surgery.  Honestly I'd rather hear it from someone who's been through it than to get just a technical/medical definition.

Hi,

Well, let's see... You are given a much small pouch from the actual stomach.  The rest of the stomach remains where it is.  About six feet of the small intestines are bypassed to limit how much or how many calories you actually absorb.  That is the layman's description.  This surgery is usually done laproscopically and takes about a half hour to 45 minutes barring any complications.  This surgery is also reversible and revisable.  Recovery time is about a week to two weeks.  I think that's it.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

In a nutshell, mini gastric bypass uses the loop reconstruction that has been suggested as an alternative to the Roux en-Y procedure, due to the simplicity of its construction, which reduced the challenge of laparoscopic surgery. Also, the surgery takes lesser time and could heal faster compared to other weigh loss surgery.
