mini gastric vs regular gastric

Your post has offerred more for my education on MGB than any other piece of info i've found so far. I am just beginning to consider a gastric bypass to put the brakes on my wild ride up the scales. I watched the show on Discovery Health, "Action Hero Makeover" (I think that was the title.) It was about Gil Gerard, aka Buck Rogers, who had a mini from Dr Rutledge in Las Vegas. The point that impressed me was that the mini reduced the "hunger hormone", Ghrelin. For years I have been saying that something in my head was making me eat--the compulsion was just too strong. I have tried almost every diet on the planet, and bounced every time to a higher weight. I have been in a 12 step program also. Nothing works for me. I have fibromyalgia which is unbelievably complicated by carrying around too much weight (BMI 40).
After reading several posts, I am finding out that the post-op diet seems very difficult. How would a bypass help me, other than losing weight, with those "run over little old ladies and their little dogs too" cravings? Or should I be researching hormonal therapies? I am terrified of having the surgery only to climb back up the scales.
Thanks!
I am new and most recently have spoke to the office of Dr. Peragile....I am awaiting my literature to arrive in the mail....I have read testamonials, and the description difference between mini gastric bypass and the others....I have never considered the others because I knew people who had it done, and the consequences they had...one was death...I am still very apprehensive, because of just the rearranging of your insides...but at the same time, my weight has fluctuated between 250 lbs. to 266 for several years...my weight was 272 7 years ago....3 years ago I was able to get down to 213....my weight as of today is 254...I most recently in November started at "Curves" and was doing very well for 3 months eating well and going every day 6 am...was losing inches, but weight had gone down only 6 lbs...but I did continue riding my bike every day..well, I did have a problem of some sort, because I lost interest...I do know that muscle weighs more than fat, but still, it must have been working on my subconscienous because I stopped...but I believe there has to be some hope....that is why I am considering this as my last option...in my younger years I was not over 130 lbs.my weight was between 115 to 120 by the age of 50 I was 175 lbs....in my forties I started the battle, and all the time, loose and put more on...I am now 66...always trying to get the underlying answer as to my problem...I now may have the answer, it is has been stress...always trying to stay slim and nice looking..but my relationship with men has always been less than happy...so it has led me to this point in my life....so is the risk worth it, and if I again look nice will it make me find the happiness within that I lost? And of course the health issue is at the top of my list..I have diabetes, high blood pressure, pulmonary hypertension, at 49 had hysterectomy, 50 heart attack, 55 stroke( with no lasting effects)...
