Topic: RE: Anyone in the Reserves/Guard ever have WLS
There was a long thread on the main board a couple of weeks ago, someone had RYN 3 years ago and wanted to now join the military. People were telling her it was against Army policy (joining post-op), which it currently is, but there was one NG soldier that came on the thread and said she had just had surgery last month.
This soldier wasn't sure if she'd get kicked out or not for it though. Her chain of command know she was/did do it, but the higher ups may have a problem with it, she didn't know for sure.
Okay, I did some digging and found her, I'm not sure if I can put her user name on here per the TOS. I'll PM you and then maybe PM her to see how things are going.
Topic: RE: refferal...
Hi Jennifer, Diana was exactly right in everything she said. It should only take a few days . I believe I went to my PCM on a Friday and I got a call from Tricare saying I was approved that following Monday. I would go back again like Diana stated. As far as making the other appointments I would wait and see who your Dr. is. Some of them want you to go to certain Dr.'s for certain appointments. I know the one that I am seeing really isn't too picky about who does the sleep test, physical theropy or nutrition class; but he wants all of his patients to see a certain Psyc. for psyc evaluation. Even your appointments might differ depending on your Dr.

Topic: Anyone in the Reserves/Guard ever have WLS
I am a Guard member who had gotten in an accident and have been injured. I have a waiver for my back and a profile for no running/sit ups. The injury, the meds and lack of real cardio has become out of control for me. I have always just gotten by due to passing the tape test but that is many lbs ago. I am considering WLS. Has anyone gotten WLS and remained in the reserves?
Topic: RE: refferal...
I would do some more checking with your Dr. It should only take a few days, at most to get a referral. Good luck. It really did help me to get my pscyh eval done early. Just make sure they are used to doing evaluations for bariatric surgery. Diana

Topic: refferal...
ok so i went to the regular dr and they said yup they will put the refferal in for me, this is 3 weeks ago, i have been checking online, i dont see anything comming up not even a pending authorization, so i called tricare and they said the very MOST it would take is 5 business days, well its been over 7 business days, so i am calling them tomarrow, to have them put in the refferal again..i think it might have not been sent correctly because she is a brand new dr and brand new to the navy, and i have a few friends that have meesed up refferals, anyways i was thinking since psychritary doesnt take a refferal would i be good on going and getting the eval, making the journey a little shorter when i finally get approved..i really do think i will be..i dunno just some ideas would be helpful, should i just wait till i get the ok or just go about my seelf and get it done
