I tried to call you the other day. I know I was a couple of days late w/ the call. SORRY ABOUT THAT! My doc is in Columbia and yes he does RNY! I must say that he is a great surgeon and the office staff is great also.

Topic: RE: Question for after surgery
Unfortunately there is not much that can be done for the skin. Whether or not you have skin issues depends on many factors. Exercising can build muscle which can fill in the skin a little but for the most part, really the only thing that will help with the sagging skin is reconstructive surgery. While it is sometimes difficult to get approval, according to the policy Tricare does cover a panniculectomy if deemed medically necessary. If you start having skin issues (rashes, infections, etc) do not self treat. Go to your PCP or a dermatologist and start documenting the problems. You will need this documentation for Tricare Approval of plastics. Red

Topic: Question for after surgery
After surgery and you get to your goal, how do you go about losing the extra skin? Are you suppose to exercise after surgery when you feel better to tone? Let me know. Thanks.

I live in SC but I was told I had to go to Eisenhower because they have docs that do WLS there. I called a clinic in Augusta and they told me that Tricare wouldn't approve me because of Eisenhower. Where is your Doc? And does he do RYN?

I didnt have my surgery there, but whenever I was doing my research for WLS I looked into going there b/c I didnt think that I would qualify for Tricare to pay for it and I had heard that if you go to a MTF that insurance wouldn't have any say in it. I was told that it was up to the surgeon. Wish I could help more, but thats all that I can offer. Sorry!! Megan
