Thanks so much for all your responses.. I didn't get to get back on yesterday, so I didn't get to get back on to update that I had talked to the nurse at my doctor's office and she told Dr. Dolan everything that I was feeling and what I had been eating & he said that I'm doing great.. It's okay to not feel full or satisfied.. As long as I'm not nauseas, vomiting or having dry heaves, I'm fine.. He said I would know if my staple line had been broken.. For me to make sure I follow the diet the Nut. gave me & I would be okay..

Now, I am worried as I know I am 100 pounds overweight but I do not think I have the comorbidties. My referral says medically necessary. Does that change anything. I wonder if because my thyroid is borderline, and I cant tolerate the medication if this will qualify me. I know that I am being for depression, does this qualify as one? For me to bee 200% of my body I need another 30lbs on me....o gosh this is truly upsetting, I mean my PCM and I discussed the qualifications for Tricare and I don't think he would have done it if I didn't qualify. Frustration at every turn....hmmmm

Yeah!! Here you go!! The evaluation is with a psychologist. It would be good if you could find a baratric psych, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about doing that. My surgeon's program gave me a list of 5 different doctors they use and I matched their list with Tricare's to see who was a in-network doc and chose the only one that was. I suppose you could just do a search on Tricare for the psych doctor near you and call a couple to see if they do baratric evals. WOO HOO!! October 4th is less than a month away! I know you must be very excited!! Andi

I had my first consultation with my surgeon's program manager on May 2d. A month later after I meet all my surgeon's pre-op requirements on June 6th my paperwork was submitted to Tricare and I was approved on June 8th. A month later on July 6th I had my surgery. Layla is correct, Tricare only requires two things (that I could ever find) and that is that you meet the weight requirement (over 100lbs of your ideal body weight with a co-morbidity or 200% of your ideal body weight without a co-morbidity) and the pysch eval. Got these two things met and you are good to go! GL! Andi

This early out I was only allowed 4oz per hour. I was told to sip, sip, sip. You're right, you don't want to bust open those staples. You won't really feel full (or hungry) this early out because your nerve endings have all been cut and are just beginning to heal. It will be a while before you feel full/hungry, so you need to be careful about how much you take in. The pouch is reduced to about 2oz, but because it is pretty swollen right now, you'll only be able to fit about 1oz, until that swelling goes down. So take it slow. Hopefully your nurse will call you back soon. Congratulations and welcome to the losers bench!! Andi
