TaReesa, It only took just over 24 hours for my approval once Tri-care received my paperwork so don't worry about it taking 2-4 weeks. Just keep going online and checking to see if you have been approved. Good luck. Leann

Hi taressa, I am so sorry about the bad day. I can only imagine how mad you are. I know that you are on pins and needles waiting for the surgery date. I am slightly behind you on the stages. I have one appointment left...for this coming Monday.(Psyc.evaluation). The coordinator for the doctor I am seeing said it would be two weeks after I see the Psycologist that the reports would be ready and sent to them. They would immediately send all my paper work after that to Tricare. She said Tricare usually takes only around 48 hours to approve . From there I set up an appointment with my Dr. and at that appointment set a date. I am like you ..I don't understand the waiting in between. Don't get me wrong I will do whatever is necessary to have the operation; but considering that Tricare only takes 48 hours to approve I don't understand the waitng a few weeks inbetween. Best wishes to you. I will pray that you have a speedy approval, and a new date to see your surgeon ...QUICKLY!!! Jaye Jaye

Well I went to see my doctor today to get my surgery date, but I did not get my date. I was kind of upset about it. First, appointment was at 2:30. My husband and I got there at about 2:10. I did not get seen until 3:20. Then the doctor talked to me for all of 10 minutes and then sent me to the lady who sets the appointments. My husband and I go into the girls office and the first thing she says is we cannot set an appointment until we have submitted all your paperwork. I told her that my paperwork has been completed for over a week now. She said that they will go ahead and submit it to Tricare today and then I have to wait 2-4 weeks for Tricare to approve it and then they will give me a call and set my surgery date. I was mad about that. I was wondering what they have been doing with my paperwork. I finished all my tests over a week ago. I was so excited when I went to the doctor's office today. I was so excited about getting my surgery date. And then this. So now I am going to be checking the Tricare website and calling every other day. So now my question is, how long did it take for Tricare to approve you once all your paperwork was completed?

We are here to get and give support. I often wish I were closer so I could help on occasion. But, we are spread all over. I am good at throwing out sugestions. and sometimes one might actually work. I am really glad I had this surgery. I am a lightweight and I am a very slow loser, but losing is losing. I feel better already. Eventhough I am a lightweight, my weight has adversly affected my health. Keep looking you'll find the answers. Diana

I know he will have to be home for the surgery day and days I will be in hospital. I got family coming towards the end of the month, she is a traveling nurse and will be at that hositpal so that may help. I love all the encouragement from this posting. Thanks to you all.

don't give up. You might find a young girl around that would love to come and play with the baby for a few hours a day. Keep looking. Get to know your people on base. You may have some young stay at home mothers that can help you out. The first 2 weeks are when you will need the most help. Is your DH able to be home for a few days? Diana

I had planned to have the surgery this summer while my 16 yr was here but she lives in Texas. She did not make the move when we did. She had only been in one school and did not want to move and now that I have lived here i am glad she stayed there. My husband is a great help when he is at home. Childcare around here is hard to find, there are waiting list everywhere. Maybe I better wait until I get some family close before i consider surgery. Thanks for all the input.

Welcome to the board. It is very typical for military people to go through these things without family support. You will need some time after surgery to heal and won't be able to take care of your baby completely. You may find some people on base to help you with child care. Can your 16 yr old help when she is not in school? That would be a big help, but you can't put it all on her either. How supportive is your DH? You won't be able to prepare meals for the family for a while. I was really dizzy for the first 2 weeks and still dizzy for another 2 weeks. You need to be prepared for anything that might come up. In other words you need more help lined up than you think you will need jsut in case. I had to send my youngest to daycare once when I was sick. My DH had to work and I couldn't take care of her. Keep asking questions and we will do our best to answer them or at least give support. Diana
