Topic: RE: Chantix
Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I have not tried that I have called the nearest base to me what are two fort jackson and fort gorden and only one offered the chantix but there was a catch to that. You had to complete a smokers sensation course to be able to get the perscription filled (does this sound as stupid to you as it did to me?) Well I said ok then I will just go and take this little class and run by and get my script filled but when I called to enroll for the class it was a four day class and it was only one class a week. It would take a month to finish this course and more gas than the perscription would cost me to go 4 times to augusta. Anyway if you call on monday and find out anything else we can do let me know. I am soooooooo desperate for this medication I have thought about going on and paying that amount but geeze that is alot!! Thanks for the reply and let me know how you are doing. I am going to add you to my friends list if thats ok by you. Thanks Liz
Topic: RE: Still around but surgery process is stalled
Hi Julie . I know how it is to have your surgery stalled. At least you have a good idea of the process, and you know what to do and how long it will take. Just know that you will get there, and with Tricare you will still have the surgery faster than someone with BCBS or some other insurance that requires a six month diet process. So all in all that is not a bad deal. There are several women on the base I am at now that had the surgery three or more years ago. All three women got tummy tucks and breast agmentations(sp). The only complaint they had was for some reason Tricare had them do these in two seperate operations; but at least they paid for the surgeries and everything. Tricare will not pay for breast implants ; but they will pay for the agumentation (lift) which is fine by me.(or at least that is what everyone keeps telling me.

You know what...I am in the same boat as you are! I got the prescription and the pharmacy said the same thing and it cost the same $125.00...
I wonder if you can send your prescription to the Tricare Retail Pharmacy through the mail?
Call Tricare for the Express Scripts package and in the meantime, ask if they will provide Chantix.
You must make sure your personal info (status, address, phone number and email) is current with DEERS to make sure you are eligible for the retail pharmacy benefit.
You can check www.tricare.osd.mil/deers/default.cfm to update your information.
I am sorry if I dont answer your question directly but maybe I am helping you to go on the right track. I will be calling on Monday to see if we can do it by mail since our local pharmacy wont give it to us for $3.00 co pay.
I will come back here if I find out something.
Topic: Still around but surgery process is stalled
Hey! How is everyone? Everyone doing good with the new plumbing? LOL I havent had the surgery because I didnt want to pay $2000 for fees, so I decided to wait to move to No Carolina. I found out that I can go to Cherry Point and if I have to go to DC for my surgury, Tricare will pay for my airfare there! I was thrown back on that. But I am pleased! And then...if I need a tummy tuck from all the loose skin, Tricare will pay for that too! Cool! I got all of this information from the Tricare rep at Luke Air Force Base here in AZ...I hope she is true to her words.
So I wait for my husband to leave for NC to get a house for us...it could take 2-3 months or sooner, which comes first, base housing or a nice rental house. Once I get there, I will get my referral to a bariatric surgeon and I can imagine that can take FOREVER...but in the meantime I will be quitting smoking. I would be smoke free for over 3 months by the time I am ready.
Eventhough my process is stalled, I am still around!

Topic: RE: RE: Surgery Date
No word yet. I called the doctor's office Wednesday. They said that they are still waiting from some of my paperwork to come in. They said that they will probably submit my paperwork next week sometime. And you best believe I am going to call!!!
So I am still playing the waiting game. I keep hearing that it doesn't take long to get approved. Now I am just waiting for the doctor's office to submit my paperwork. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I will let everyone know. Wish me luck.

Thank you all for your good thoughts and well wishes, and No I don't, because the surgeons office started requiring that while I was in the appeals process, so they said that if I was approved they wouldn't require it.
