Topic: RE: I am so excited! I cant believe I did it!
Congrats to you!! I know how hard this is to do as I have been smokefree for 2 months and 4 days now. I started on Chantix but still had to kick the habit so you really didn't need it. Way to go and keep up the good work.
Topic: I am so excited! I cant believe I did it!
Well after 28 yrs of smoking I have kicked the habit cold turkey! I have not had a cig since monday and I am so proud of me!! I went to the Dr. got chantix and I thought it was crazy to pay $125 for something like this. The only side affect I have had so far is that I itch all over. I guess it has something to do with the nerves not sure but I am still happy that I have not actually even craved a cig. Havnt wanted one at all. I prayed and asked others to pray for me. I believe the Lord has truelly blessed me. Good luck to anyone else out there trying to kick this habit.
Topic: RE: Hi, I am new here,
Thank you for replying, I just feel so lost and out of control right now. I am trying to keep my best chin up..I think my daughter is now going to sign up now too. She cant let her brother out do her.... I only have the two children....I am so scared... I never ever dreamed I had raised two military people.. They havent been accepted yet or taken their physicals. But as far as I know they have no physical deformities or problems......
Topic: RE: Hi, I am new here,
Thank you, I guess I will get used to hurry and wait.... that sounds like the government to me.....
Topic: RE: Hi, I am new here,
Thank you, the recruiter did call and apoligies for missing the appointment and is meeting us at the house on Tuesday..... Now my daughter has dicided to enlist also. She will not graduate until May so she will have to go on delayed deployment... I guess it is giving them a direction in life. My son has decided to make it a life time carreet. He may change his mind later. The recruiter said it would take about a month and half to get everything in order for him to go out... So I guess he will be in boot camp on christmas.. that will suck bigt time.....

Congratulations on your son's wedding. I hope you have a good time there. I am way far away form there. I hope you have a really good trip and a fun wedding. You sure look good in your picture. Diana
Topic: RE: Hi, I am new here,
Welcome. I have seen you on the main board. this is a good board. You can get a lot of imformation here.
I am married to an Army Ranger. Talk about discipline, he has it and expects it. He has mellowed over the years and now that he is retired he is even a little softer. (well a lot) Thanks goodness.
Derrill totally agrees with the "hurry up and wait." I really think it is their motto. LOL
He spent over 40 years in. My Dad and all of his brothers were drafted during WWII. One of his brothers was killed in Germany. Derrill spent his combat time in southeast Asia. He but in over 8 years in combat. I was just a kid in high school. I'm glad of that and I didn't have to worry about him all the time.
He has helped a lot of young men as they entered the military. Many of his former Scouts have joined one of the services. He has given them a lot of tips on how to get through and how not to get in trouble or stick out.
I'm sure it is hard to watch your son go into the military. Non of my kids have been able to. One son has asthma and get pneumonia a lot and the another on has a back deformity and he broke his foot and shattered 3 bones. They did their best to fix it, but he is in a lot of pain. His foot has a big bump on top. So, they won't take him. He was talking about going to OCS, but that can't happen now. It would have been good for my oldest and I just realized that he could be retireing now. Whew, I'm old.
I hope things work out for the best for you and your son.
By the way, my youngest daughter is named Marie and goes by RieRie a lot. So, see your name stands out to me. Diana
Topic: RE: Still around but surgery process is stalled
I'm doing well. I have been wondering where you were. I'd wait before I paid that much money also. I have only paid about $300. and that was Nut and Phych eval. Tricare paid half. For Panni or tummy tuck, you just have to document every rash, sore or anything wlse you can and they will pay. and yes Tricare will pay for your travel.
You'll get it done. It will be reallly good to be smoke free for that long. It will really help your recovery.
Hopefully you will get housing really soon and be able to get settled in and get your surgery. Stay around and let us know how your move is going. Diana

Topic: RE: Still around but surgery process is stalled
hi Julie, I was curious if you had found any type of support group around Luke AFB? I wish we knew already that we were leaving this place but guess we are still stuck here so my surgery will be here. It is being resubmittedtoday, so hopefully it will be before too long that we can get it scheduled. I had wondered about the tummy tuck and all that after so that is nice to know as well. Thanks for all the information you gave. Good Luck on the quitting smoking and if you are using Chantix, after you are on it for 2 weeks you no longer need it as it will kick the craving part but you still have to kick the habit part and I only took the Chantix for 1 week and now have been smoke free for 2 months and 3 days. Good Luck with your move, and everything.
