Topic: RE: Tricare Now Covers Lapband - See Link
Thats great I was going to do lap band but My surgeon suggested that I not have because other surgeons dont like to take patients that had it done somewhere else and with being military spouse and moving recommended the gastric bypass.

Topic: 2 Week Checkup
Well I had my 2 week check up today. Well it has not really been 2 weeks. It has been 11 days. I have lost a total of 17 pounds. I lost 6 pounds before the surgery and then I lost 11 since 11/30. That is about a pound a day since surgery. I got my staples out today. I was so glad about that. They were itching so bad. So I guess I am doing well. It is so nice to finally be losing weight. I go back January 7th. So we will see how much I have lost since then. I wonder if this is normal for the 2 week follow up. How much did you guys loose at your 2 week appointment?

I do the Adkins Protein Shakes.. I've only had the Chocolate & Vanilla, both are very yummy.. I get mine from Walmart.. They are Ready to Drink, so a little more expensive, but they are they only one's that I've been able to drink at all..
Topic: RE: I am going to MEPS in 2 weeks
It is my understanding, that the answer is no they will not accept you, but maybe I am wrong.
My DH was in the Navy and had a surgery that was similar to WLS to treat his GERD. Well, approximately 2 years following, he was given a medical retirement. He was put on shore duty until given the clearance to go back to sea. While one board found ok, the medical board said no.

Things are progressing for me. I am dreading surgery, but I am in pain and can't wait to get my knees fixed. I hope this will fix Derrill for a very long time. Take good care of yourself. Don't try to do too much for a while and get plenty of sleep. Diana

WOW Diana, you do have alot going on. I will be praying for you. Keep taking care of yourself. It sounds like things are progressing for you though. I hope all goes well with your hip and back. I will also be praying for your husband and his speedy recovery. You take care.

I was wanted to know if anyone has joined the military after WLS? I talked to a couple of people and they said if you had no serious medical problems before you could get a waiver. It is up to the doctor. If you have any information please PLEASE contact me at [email protected] or reply here.
Thank you
Topic: RE: Hello from Baumholder, Geramy
I am having my surgery at a local German hospital.
I though about that too. We just got here in July and will be here for three years. I have told the most important people in my life and they are all supportive. I am very lucky. But I also asked them not to say anything to anyone. I want that to be my decision to tell people. And having the surgery in Europe and not going home for a couple of years helps. This allows me to make it easy to tell or not. If I choose not to tell then they probably wont think any thing about it because it will be so long since they have seen me.
Thank you so much for your support and kind words. I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

My DH had a bad cold and cough over the last week. Well he literally coughed out his gut. Yep he did. He poped out a large hernia. And a small one on top of the large one. It is because of his bowel surgeries he had last year. He will have surgery Monday. this will be his 3rd surgery and 4th hospital stay in 13 months. He is not happy. He can't do anything until it is fixed either, so he is anxious to get it over with.
Now I have his bug, so I am not so happy. At least I have till Monday to feel better.
then on Wednesday, my daughter is having her wisdom teeth pulled. So I will be back and forth between the 2. Derrill should come home Wednesday also. So, between the two you see they will lick my platter clean. I couldn't resist that. We have to get our laughs in where we can.
I am scheduled to have a total knee replacement on the 11th of Feb. He is also going to do a synvisc injection in my better knee at the same time. I will probably need to have it replaced within a year. the good news is he thinks it will help my hip and back if he can get me walking normally . I haven't been able to for about 4 years now. I can't even try to look normal now. I have to suffle my feet after about 5 minutes and it still is extremely painful. So, I sit at home. The Dr also has no problem with my weight now. Hooooo raaaay for weight loss surgery. I will be at the hospital and back and forth, so if I am not around till the end of next week much you will know why.
My brooken arm looks great now and I can move my elbow very well. I also got my first of the 4 crowns on yesterday. Did I mention that you must be careful when riding a bike? I had to hav my picture taken for my concealed weapons permit and some of the red from the road rash shows up on it. Oh well, it's not a beauty contest.
Take care everyone. Diana
