Hello! We left Drum 7 years ago Since then, we've traveled a little-- Fort Campbell, Fort Lewis, we're at Ft. Bragg now and headed to Ft. Benning in November. I also have 3 children.
I had my surgery in April of this year. Its been about 3 months now and I've lost 60lbs. I'm so excited. I still have 70lbs to lose, but I'm hoping I'll be at or near my goal weight by the time we move!
Nice to "meet" you!

Hi Christine. I am an AF wife also and I am getting ready to have the bypass in 6 days. I am a little nervous but ready to go. My hubby is in Airman Leadership School right now so he cannot be there the day of the surgery. But we have made some dear friends up here in Minot (you have to make friends up here...haha) so I will be well looked after. Our friend that is here was actually stationed at Moody before he went to Korea (where he met my hubby) and then they both got follow-ons here. When I went to our support group meeting last month, the plastic surgeon was our speaker and he says that within the next year or so, they are fighting to make the insurance companies pay for everything, because it is no longer cosmetic. I know when we were in San Antonio, they were going them left and right at Brooke Army medical. That is where a lot of the Iraq soldiers went (Oprah did a show on it) because they have such a big "burn" unit and plastic surgery unit. The lady in our orientation class for the surgery there said she had an eyelift there and it cost her nothing?? I couldn't believe it. So I figure if I can;t get them to pay for it here, maybe I will go back to San Antonio. I still have my sister there. Thanks for posting. I really enjoy talking with our military spouses!! Good Luck!!

Hello. My husband is in the Navy. I am not ready for PS yet, but my PCP has already talked to me about going for a referral. I told her that I still need to lose some more weight. She told me to just let her know when I was ready and we would submit the paperwork. I have lost 171 Lbs so far and still need to lose around 70 more until PS. We are currently stationed in Virginia, but we are from Texas. I look forward to hearing from everyone.

I have heare that it is easier to get the PS overseas so good luck in that. I so want to go back over seas. We were in Turkey for 14 months and I loved every day of it. We are hoping when my husband makes one more strip we will be able to go back. Only time will tell. Good luck in acheving your goal with your weight loss.

Hi Christine! Soooo nice to meet you! Hopefully there will be more successful military spouses to join us I am not far enough into the process yet to be worrying about PS (okay I'm thinking about it already LMAO) but that is one question that I was wondering about We are currently stationed at Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas but PCSing to Rheinmain Germany next month! After one year we will be moving to Ramstein or Spangdalehm (however you spell it) because Rheinmain is closing :P
Anyhow, great to meet you and hope to get this board up and running!

Hello there,
You are so right that we experience different stresses and experiences than the civilians do. Plus we have theirs too. I was raised Navy and married Marine.
I had a gastric bypass 02/04/04 and I am doing pretty good. We will be relocating next week, my hubby leaves today.
I look forward to this avenue for support. i'd love to get emails from others in this group.
