Topic: RE: Enlistment In Reserve
I am sorry I don't know of anyone who can help you. But why don't you get a letter from a physician and see if that helps. In the letter they can state any info about your health and wether or not they think you are capable of serving. Good Luck, Danielle, mil.wife

Topic: Enlistment In Reserve
Please help. If anyone knows of a successful enlistment after surgery please forward your recruiters name and number to me at [email protected]. I had a Gastric Bypass 6 years ago. The first couple of years I had dietary restrictions but I have had two kids since and my body has adjusted. I eat 3 regular meals anything I want and I don't take any supplements and my vitamin levels are normal. I took the ASVAB a couple of weeks ago and scored a 90 with a GT of 121 now all I need is help getting into the reserve. I appreciate any help I can get and I don't care what state I have to go through to get there.

Topic: RE: Tricare and Lap Band Surgery
Hi, when exactly will it be at Ft. Bliss? Can you tell me the name of the doctor who will be performing it? And finally, what are the steps I need to take in order to prepare? I haven't even begun asking for it as I did not realize it was available and I sure don't have the money with my husband only being a specialist. If you could e-mail me, I'd appreciate it.

MiMi, It's been over three months since you posted this message. Has Fort Bliss started their lapband program and is Fort Bliss considered part of the Tricare Southwest Region?

Topic: Tricare, Lap band and Fills
Hey everyone! I was curious if anyone had any updated information on tricare's stance on lapband. I have heard that certain MTFs cover it. However, I am curious about fills. Is that covered after a PCS? I have Tricare Prime. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Cam

Topic: RE: Can I join the Military Post-Op?
Hi Tom, I don't know if this will help but we are stationed in Heidelberg, Germany right now. My husband was AD and just got out last Aug. I had a GS job when I had the surgery. No one said anything, but then, no one really knew. I mean, my boss and all my co-workers knew, but not anyone in personnel. I was working for EFMP (Exceptional Family Member Program). We make sure that soldiers that have family members with special medical/education needs are stationed some place that has the appropriate level of care is available. As a GS civilian, you must release information about yourself/family members that have special needs. So it can affect where you are eligible to go. But my husband didn't even put my surgery down as a special need. I mean, once you have the surgery, there isn't much you require. Especially the farther out you get. Just a side note...they are downsizing so much here in Europe that your chances of getting a job over here are very slim. My husband is a GS civilian now since he got out and he is afraid of losing his job once they start reorganizing things here. They are cutting a lot of jobs and a lot of people are going to be going back to the States with no job. I just pray we are one of them. Hope this helps!! Brenda

Topic: Need Help - National Guard Waiver Letter
Hi I am trying my hardest to go back into the service now that my weight is down. The regular services say no, but the National Guard recruiter is willing to work with me on the waiver. I have seen other on-line who have gotten in. My doctor and suregeon are willing to do the waiver letters for me, but want to know what to say and what format. Can anybody PLEASE help me. If you have a sample i would appreciate it. No personal info. of course. Just the letter contents or what it should say. Thanks, Tom
