Has anyone been approved for Lap band with a civilian sugeon with tricare prime remote? I called tricare north and gave codes doctor gave me for the lap band and they told me the code given to them was a code that was cocered ??? was just wondering if any one else has had it done or if tricare may have given me wrong info?? I never get the same answer from them when I call...... If any one knows would appreciate it.... Thanks

I am home and doing OK. I am tired and am haveing a hard time sitting at my computer very long. I am getting better every day. Pain is minimal. I am still having quite a bit of gas, but I am not hungry at all, WOW. I hope I can catch up on things, but it will take me a few days yet. Hope you are all doing well. Diana

Im newbie to this board also, Im an Army spouse we are AGR in Wilmington NC. Im having my visit with Dr.Harris on tuesday hoping that tricare prime will cover the lap band procedure I was told they do Im having to get a psy and nut. appoint done I was also told by tricare those appt. are covered also if you have the Dr. doing the procedure request a referal for them.. well see I beleive I fall into the guide lines my IBM is 43. I look forward to any info you all can provide me with ....

From what I understand in order to not PCS you would have to qualify for EFMP, exceptional family member program... but if the military base that is receiving you has medical facilities that can accomidate your medical status then the PCS is a GO! Most of the facilities have a surgery clinic that can see you for WLS, even a Primary Care Manager could do it with some help on what to look for. So dont count on not having to PCS... In my opinion it would just end up him PCSing by him self and you left behind at the old post. I would call the new post surgery clinic and see if the provide WLS and ask them if they will be able to start seeing you for follow up right away. Maybe you can get a phone consult with the surgeon on that post, you may want to also hand carry a copy of your surgery medical records to the new post. Good Luck. Now if a service member has the surgery then who knows what the rules would be
