Topic: RE: 5 Year Weight Loss History
you know i just went to the dr last friday to talk about gastric bypass, they said i fit as a canidate, and told me to go home and write down all the diets, weight gain, medication i am on, problems with myself..bascially telling them how fat i am and need the surgery. my dr said although tricare doesnt require this, it helps to get an approval on the first, verces being denied then having to go through an appeal process and your going to need all that info anyways, so just your dr as much as you can, to help push the approval in.

Tricare doesn't require a 5 year weight loss history. The only requirements from Tricare is the psych eval and the weight requirements. (I actually gained almost 20lbs from 5 years ago and was approved pretty quickly.) I know most surgeon's request/submit the 5 year history of weight (don't have to be at a loss necessarily) because a lot of insurances do require it, but Tricare isn't one of them. It is just your surgeon's requirements, not Tricare's.

TaReesa,
I just used my weigh in's for each doctors visit I might've had, you know when they do the vitals? Were you seen at all the 5th year? I don't think it has to be visits specifically for weight loss visits. Hope this helps :0)
Topic: 5 Year Weight Loss History
I have a question for anyone who had to submit a 5 year weight loss history. I have been seeing my current doctor for 4 years and he has been documenting my weight history since then. He submitted my 4 year weight loss history to the surgeons office yesterday. My question is do you think tricare will deny me because of the 4 year weight loss history? I have kept up with my weight loss (and gain) since 2001. I gave my doctor that. He faxed it along with his record. I am just a little worried about that. If you know, please let me know.

Thanks. I hope Mt home AFB has it. Hill AFB has a huge commisary now, I'll bet they will carry it. We are there quite a bit. It isn't overly sweet and you can really taste the mango and peach in it. I will get some other flavors. You got to have variety. Diana

Diana,
The commissary here at Tyndall in Florida carries Isopure but only three flavors. It is only 2.19 a bottle at the commissary they are 20 OZ bottles.

I will be checking out the commissary and PX when we go over. I hope they do and it is cheaper than GNC. I will check out the GNC store on base to see if they are cheaper. Probably not. I paid $44.00 and it is 44 servings for me. That is really only $1.00 per day, but I am cheap.
I have heard of the unflavored protein and would like to try it. Adding a small amount to meals could help up the protein intake without gaging on it. It probably is good to spread it out over the day also.
I am suppose to get 60-70 gms per day. But, I won't be able to make that for a while. I did really well yesterday and got 47 gms. That includes sipping on my protein drink between meals. It will take a while. I tried to eat 3 oz at a meal, it was too much. I am eating 2 oz. Really weird, I'm stuffed. It's great really. Diana

Well it is good that the Isopure is working out. I believe I read on a website that they carry the Isopure in most commisaries (sp). I don't know that for sure ...I haven't looked for it yet myself.
It's good that you aren't craving sweets; but really, really bad that you have experienced dumping with some of the other protein drinks. I have also read that you can get protein powder(unflavored) and add it to things to give you additional protein. Have you tried any of these?
How much protein are you suppose to try and get in daily?
