Hey all..:) I just got a consult appt with Balboa through my PCP in Oceanside, Ca. I am a retired Air Force dependent, have Tricare Prime. I talked with Mr. Casins, who I guess schedules the appts. I have the consult with the surgeon?? I guess on Nov. 26. I asked him about how long it takes to get a surgery date after the initial consultation, and he told me usually about 3 weeks...gawd!! that would be too cool! Anyhoo....I have had bloodwork done, papsmear, getting mammogram on the 19th, just have not had a psych eval. I asked Mr. Casin about that as well, and he said the Dr. would schedule that after the initial consult. Tricare Prime is no longer involved I guess. I was looking for the referral from my PCP since the 19th of October...nothing..then about a week later I got the call from Balboa. Has anyone on these boards had rny through Balboa recently?? What were your experiences..how long did your process take after getting your referral?? I'm hoping to have the surgery done by January as I have constricting schedules with my work after that... I am so excited to be here. BTW, my daughter has had rny on 4 Sept and is 4 lbs away from 70 lbs lost! So proud and excited for her. Thanks!! Kelly in San Diego :-)

although i did not have or deal with balboa on terms of wls i did have my son there 18months ago. i thought it was a nice hospital, and there staff were nice. however they sometimes want you to just settle on things, but once you bring up an important issue, they usually conforme and do a great job. oh and they several food options for your family that might stay there with you. also the cafeteria is dirt cheap and good. recommend having family eat there.

Hi Jennifer how are you hope all is well. Well to start I one day in Aug went to see my cardiologist and first thing out of his mouth is you are getting an appointment with the bariatric clinic and in about three week I was seen. I had my appointment in Sept. and was seen by a Dr Bertucci very nice Dr. after he said yes you need to have this surgery I asked the same thing after seeing you today how long will it be for me to get my sugery date he said it all depends on you. You see there is a list of thing you need to do he told me a lady had done it in about one month but it took me since Sept unitll next week for me to get my surgery so for me it was about 2 1/2 months and I am going in for sugery on the 13 of Nov. I am Army Ret and use tricare Prime I don't know who Mr Casins is but the nurse for the bariatric clinic is a Annelise Brown and she is the one that set up you dates and all that. Ms Brown makes sure you have everything ready and checks and doubles checks everything. My wife has had both our children at Balboa and I have had sugery at this hospital and im still here. So that is all the info I can give you I hope this helps. Take care and let me know when you are scheduled and if I can help in any way also they have metting every month that people can help with all of you question if you have more. Take care.
