Well, yesterday I had my consult with the Surgeon. I guess paperwork gets submitted to Tricare. Now here is my question. Is the paperwork they submitting just for pre-op stuff, and/or does this include the surgery? This is part of the process is all new to me.

Depends on if you already had all test and paperwork done that is required by your surgeon, my surgeon sent me a packet that required alot of stuff be done before they would submitt my packet to tricare for approval I just finshed it all and on the 16th Oct I will see my surgeons nurse to make sure all in place and will submit to tricare then when I receive approval will set date for surgery. I had to have 5yrs of weight and blood pressures, letter from primary doctor for after care and need for surgery, blood work for my diabetes, hplory, chest x-ray, psych eval, nutrician class, attend a WLS group meeting, so if you have done all that your clinic request and whats required by tricare and meet the requirements then yes it will be approval for the actual surgery. If need more info let me know , I know its very confussing and time consuming. Tina

No, I did not have any other tests done yet, as they said that the insurance lady is submitting paperwork and that if I did not hear from them in a week to call. I was proactive in getting my medical records, and psyc eval, oh and I had a full blood panel of tests approximately 2 months ago, but that was it. I have not been told what tests I will need yet. This is where I am a little unsure. UGHHHHHHHHHHH this is driving me nuts

I would just call and ask them if they are getting the approval for the surgery if you had blood work and psyc and med records that is all tricare ask for so they possibly could be getting the approval process going but unsure give them a call... Tina
