Off Topic ~ Fort Bragg / Pope AFB Housing
(Cross post ~ main forum)
We will be PCSing soon to Fort Bragg, NC. DH and I have both been looking online at housing on Fort Bragg. I guess as of September 1st Fort Bragg's housing office (Picerne) has taken over the housing on Pope AFB. So now Army soldiers (and families) can live in the Pope AFB housing. The houses being offered on Pope are single family homes, instead of multiplex or duplex homes on Bragg.
Because they just newly took over Pope's housing there are no pictures or floor plans available yet. I couldn't even find anything on Pope AFB's homepage. Does anyone know what shape this houses are in? (We'll be getting a 4 bedroom). Are they single story or two? Do they have living, dining and family rooms? Carports or garages?
If you could compare them to another base's/post's housing, which would that be?
Thanks!

I have never been to Fort Bragg; but we are stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama. It is our second time here. Picerne has taken over the houses here two years ago. They are saying it is going to be another eight years before they are completely done renovating. When we were first here and lived on post 2003-2005. The house we were in was part of a duplex. It was nice; but they had cement floors throughout. We are still in a duplex; but what Picerne has done is really really nice. We have carpet in the living room and bedrooms. The kitchen and hall are tiled..not cement anymore. They put a chain linked fence in the backyard, and a covered patio with a ceiling fan. The walls are all a tan color with white trim (instead of being all blan and white the way they were before). We were also told we could paint the rooms whatever color we wanted ; if we wanted to change them. The only thing we would have to do is recoat them with a grey primer before we left so they could be repainted back tan. To be honest with you it looks great the way it is. Also, we have our grass cut and edged and blown off every Wednesday. Yeah!!!! It is all apart of the service everyone gets. I am really happy with the results. If you get one of the homes they have redone or shortly thereafter of getting there I don't think you will be disappointed!!
Thanks for responding!
I finally got a hold of the housing office for Pope's housing, this afternoon. And they were able to email some photos and floor plans. They are the older looking homes, I guess hoping company grade officers would rather have the single homes instead of the duplex style. The Pope homes are 300 less square footage then the Bragg homes. So we'll probably end up with a duplex home instead of the single family ones. DH and I are still discussing it.
Thanks again!!

I use to live at Pope and we had a 3 bedroom, 2 story. We were just there in 2004. The houses were pretty decent. They had just renovated the ones we lived in. They put carper throughout the house. There are many different styles. In our house, when you walked in the front door to the right was a breakfast room. We used it as a playroom for my daughter and when I did in home daycare. Then the kitchen was beside that room. To the left of the front door was a bathroom and then a laundry room. Then the stairs and straight ahead was the living room/ dining room. There were 2 hall closets downstairs and a back door off the living room. Upstairs was one full bathroom, 3 bedrooms and a half bath in the master bedroom. There was no garage. We had a carport. The houses that we lived in were the oldest houses on base, but they renovated them and they ended up being really nice. We lived in them before they were renovated too. I'm sorry I can't give you a better description. Some of the one stories were nice. But I didn't go into too many of those. Most of the people I know had a house like mine. However, they are similar to some of the new housing on Ft. Bragg. Unless they have changed the houses, that is what I remember.
