How much could you drink post-op?

I know I just posted my long story about how everything has been going.. But I'm just wondering how much everyone is/was able to eat a few days post op.. I'm on full liquids till my post-op next Monday. This morning I was able to drink 2.5 oz of my Protein shake in about 15 minutes. I don't know if this is too much or just right.. I still have not had a full feeling at all.. I just stop, so I don't over do it.. I'm just so worried that I have broke my staple line from my old stomach and that's why I'm able to drink that much.. I called my doctors nurse this morning and left a message for her to call me back so I can ask, but she still hasn't called me back.. I know everyone is different, but I just wanted to get a ball park from everyone.. Just to take a little ease off.. Thanks for you help ahead of time.. April*

That really sounds about right. I can drink that much in 15 min. I feel really full all the time however. We are all different. Some people don't get a full sensation for quite a while after surgery. My main stomach is cut completely away from my pouch, so it can't come undone and go into the stomach. It would go into my peritoneal cavity, which would not be good. I assume yours is the same way. 2.5 Oz in 15 min. should be fine. Your pouch should hold 2-3 oz and water passes right through. You are right to measure. Diana

I was only able to drink 1 ounce every 15 mins that was my doctors rules. It was like this for the whole first week. Then it went to 2 ounces every 30 mins. I am 7 weeks post op ond still can only eat about 2 ounces at a time. I have not had a hungry feeling at all since my surgery, I have to make myself eat because I know I need the nutrition. Leann

This early out I was only allowed 4oz per hour. I was told to sip, sip, sip. You're right, you don't want to bust open those staples. You won't really feel full (or hungry) this early out because your nerve endings have all been cut and are just beginning to heal. It will be a while before you feel full/hungry, so you need to be careful about how much you take in. The pouch is reduced to about 2oz, but because it is pretty swollen right now, you'll only be able to fit about 1oz, until that swelling goes down. So take it slow. Hopefully your nurse will call you back soon. Congratulations and welcome to the losers bench!! Andi

Thanks so much for all your responses.. I didn't get to get back on yesterday, so I didn't get to get back on to update that I had talked to the nurse at my doctor's office and she told Dr. Dolan everything that I was feeling and what I had been eating & he said that I'm doing great.. It's okay to not feel full or satisfied.. As long as I'm not nauseas, vomiting or having dry heaves, I'm fine.. He said I would know if my staple line had been broken.. For me to make sure I follow the diet the Nut. gave me & I would be okay..
