Another Newbie to this board...
Hi my name is April, I've been on OH for over a year now & I've always checked the AirForce board, but nothing ever goes on over there.. I just stumbled opon the Military board today.. My hubby is AD AF and has been for 7yrs.. I am 25 years old with a 18mth old son, Lucas.. We are station at Kessler AFB, Biloxi, MS. Yep good old Katrina land.. The program at Keesler hospital was going full speed a head when Katrina hit and they are just now starting to do the RNY starting next month.. I haven't been waiting that long since I was preggo with my son when all that happened, but I made the choice last July that I wanted to make this move for myself & my family. I've been waiting very patiently and it should be paying off sometime in September. I go for the Pre-op class on Aug 14th. I've already seen the Nut & Pysc. So those things are out of the way, not just a little longer I will join the loosers bench.. I'm very excited to have found this board. Hope you all don't mind me jumping in..
Jump in all you want. We have a small but good board. My surgery is tomorrow. It has gone very fast for me. Tricare has been great to work with for me. We are retired Army. So, we see civilian drs. We get our Meds etc. From Mt Home Air Base. We are at Hill AFB a lot also. I always check on this forum as well as the main board and over 50's, 'cause I'm old. Young at heart, however. I hope you get your surgery soon. Diana
hey i am new to this website all together i have read alot and learned somethings too. i am a army wife stationed here at Fort Sill, Ok. i am getting my surgery in whitchita falls, Tx, by Dr. warnock. I feel totally comfortable with him, but i wont lie and i am nervous as all get out and afraid that i will fail at this too....; - )

Im having my visit with Dr.Harris on tuesday hoping that tricare prime will cover the lap band procedure I was told they do Im having to get a psy and nut. appoint done I was also told by tricare those appt. are covered also if you have the Dr. doing the procedure request a referal for them.. well see I beleive I fall into the guide lines my IBM is 43.
I look forward to any info you all can provide me with ....
Hi Ladies..
Thanks for the rest of the warm welcomes! I've been out of town so this is the first time I've been able to get on since my last post.. I'm so glad I've found this board, on my state board there is no one that has to deal with Tricare or military stuff, so it's nice to see the difference in what goes on somewhere else..
Update on my surgery.. I went to the pre-op class and there are 8 pts that are to be done here at Keesler in the upcoming future & I am one of them. They are going to start calling people to set up the pre-ops next week.. I'm so excited and like one of the pp stated a little scared too, but I know this is what I need to do to get health because nothing else has worked. So hopefully I will hear from them soon. They are going to start off with one procedure a week then after a few weeks they will do 2. When they get more doctors on staff then it will continue to go up. but I should get to have my surgery in the next 9 weeks or less!! YEAH!!!
