Hi, I just found this board... thanks to your post on the main board. I've just started the process. My husband is Navy here in Washington State. I would love to talk to other military wives about this. But it doesn't seem like this board has much activity. I have soooo many questions, and I can't find the right answers because it seems no one has dealt with Military Doctors. I would love to get this board started again.

So are you seeing a military doctor? I am doing everthing off post. I have TRIED to get this board started. I will continue to try. I am having surgery in a couple weeks. I would love to answer any q's ypu may have. Erica

Yes, seeing a mil doc. I heard it could be easier to get through the process. We have a great MTF up here. The bariatric staff is awesome, I've heard many rave reviews about them. What did TriCare demand for approval?

I think just a psych eval. It was pretty easy cut and dry. But if you are going through a MTF, you don't need to get approval from Tricare.

Hi Jackie & Heidi, WELCOME I am waiting for approval. Heidi, to answer about the bookmark, at the top where it says WELCOME (name) to the right of that is bookmark, click it and it will say "add bookmark" click it. That's it Jackie, is the WLS group on post at the MTF? If so, that is cool I have to go out into town. Good luck to you both, hope to hear from you soon.

I just got a phone call today. Yes, there is a wls group at the navy hospital here. But the surgery would be an hour away down in Tacoma at the Army hospital. Well... the phone call... I have an appointment with a nurse case manager that helps me through the process. She makes all my appointments, so I don't have to call the main appointment line. Oh, my appointment is on the 12th. I did find out that I have to do a food log, exercise program, and see the nut. As for exercise the only thing my doc has cleared me for is swimming. Woo Hoo. The Nurse also said these classes could take up to a year, it depends upon when you take them... She don't know me very well, but she will.
