I was wondering if anyone has been able to find a doctor other than Doctor Quinones that has in house financing or accepts post surgery payments. I am a single mom and at 330 pounds with high blood pressure I really need this surgery. My kids need me around. Would love to hear from others
Hello Kristen,
First i wanted to congratulate you on your surgery. I am looking into different doctors and wanted to know about your experience with A Lighter Me.
After long days of ups and down I am know to my high school weigh lol.
I have not seen me this skinny for years, and it makes me want to even work that little more to shred of that one more pound.
I feel and look amazing and I love to go shopping I can actually find cloths in the women dep.
I love I do not have to just get any flowed blouse that looks like a table cloth because their is nothing else that is going to fit me.
I can even buy jeans now I do not have to just wear sweats or shorts anymore.
Weight loss has changed my life for the better I actually feel happy and have so much energy I just do not know what to do with it all.
I have stated going to a gym and do not feel like I will pass out after being on the treadmill for ten min. I get on the treadmill about 45min a day and even do some light weighs.
Have you tried to ask you family that has already had surgery what they did for their pcp?
I really do not know what you can do but if you have a emergency the hospital has to accept you anyways.
A hospital can not say no to a patient that has a emergency. Hope this can help good luck
Thank you both! I appreciate it. Did you feel TJ is safe? My best friend had a family member kidnapped, held for ransom and killed who went for medical tourism in 2012, and she is freaking out and doesn't want me to go to TJ but is fine with other cities in MX.
I had the same experience back when I was looking. I had my mind set on someone and then found some devastating info on him and had to switch gears. I ended up with Dr. Fernando Garcia of Tijuana Bariatrics. My scars are minimal and all in all, I think he did a great job (I am 18 months out). Good luck to you, whomever you choose.
This is a great start! Thank you very much for the insight and it's comforting to know that I'm not the only one that has this problem!
Thank you!!!
This is a tough one. Isn't it? I had the same experience. If you saw negative info, stay away!!!! There are lots of Drs in Mexico.
I actually am getting the switch and one Dr kept on coming up again and again and people who seemed to know what they are talking about picked him. They teach the switch too, so that made me feel better. I'm paying a premium for that Dr. about 2k more, but I figure, I want the best doctor in MX.
FWIW, I'm going here. http://mexicalibariatric.com.mx/ and they are one of he best, if not the best in MX from my research, but they are also a litlte more. For a Sleeve, I would think the are 1k more from what have seen.
Also, I wrote a long reply to the same question here.

Good luck
I'm so sorry you PCP gave you a hard time mine did too. . I don't have a Dr for you (sorry), but I went through the same thing in San Francisco and I was bummed and freaked. I posted on this forum and some others and did not get a response. I did get a response in a FB group, but the Drs name was not posted, just the clinic.
But, the way I actually solved it was by going to one of the local Weight loss Drs group. And there was a Dr there who has the surgery. I tracked her down and then, I went to see her and asked.
I think the other way to solve this issue is to pick a Dr. in Mexico and ask for local references. And then, ask those people who they used.
I know this is not a simple answer and I'm sorry. I would post on all the forums out there and every FB group you can find.
I really wish I could help more, because honestly, this was to me the hardest part of the process and I felt alone and lost. You are not alone.
Good luck!
Good morning,
My name is Cynthia and I'm 24!
My insurance denied to cover VSG because my BMI is 34.5 and I don't have a comorbidity. However, I have a family history of High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and, High Cholesterol. So it's not a matter of "IF" it's a matter of "when." I've tried loosing weight on my own (Low-Carb, Weigh****chers, Herbalife, Phen, Personal Trainer etc) and my highest weight was 289 but I've been stuck at 220 for almost 3 years!
Since I was denied coverage by my insurance then my next option was going to Mexico, I have relatives and friends that have done this procedure in Mexico so I'm doing my research to find a doctor that fits my needs.
My question is how do I find a PCP that will be willing to help me with Post-op follow ups? My current PCP has already said no. Does anyone have any recommendations in the Chicagoland area?
Thank you!
