Topic: RE: Mexico; How much cash will I need to take? What will I need to buy?

I've been to Mexico around 15 times now and I had my surgery there.  I always get some pesos from my bank here before going.  My bank, Bank Of America, will allow you to order pesos online and have them shipped to your local banking center.  Since you are not going for leisure, I would suggest you not take too much money.  You may need some small bills for tips to the cab driver or if your surgeon provides a driver, you may want to tip him/her.  You may also need some money for bottled water and souvenirs if you feel like shopping but I wouldn't take too much.  As far as prescriptions, my doctor actually provided the prescription meds to me, so I didn't need to go to a pharmacy.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

Topic: Mexico; How much cash will I need to take? What will I need to buy?

Hi everyone. I'm looking at going down to Mexico for surgery and am trying to figure out how much extra cash I will need to take and what I will need to buy while down there. I know I'll want a little money for drinks and such at the airports but I'm not sure what else I'm missing.

Also I'm not sure how much to expect to pay for the aftercare drugs at a pharmacy or how much, how often, and who to tip down there. I am not a traveler at all so this will all be a new experience for me. Any input is much appreciated.

Thanks

I've also been wondering this. Did you ever find out? I'm trying to figure out how much extra cash I need to take with me.

Topic: RE: Dr Francisco Gonzalez... Anyone used him???

Everything went great I'm down almost 70 lbs!!! And my fiancé is down 115 lbs! The clinic is small! We were the only patients there during the weekend they were very accommodating. My fiancé had absolutely no problems.  I however did get a slight infection at one of my incision sites.  Fixed myself with hibiclense. I would suggest taking some with you if your going.  As well as a pillow of you're own lol the first night right after surgery was hard for me easy for my fiancé.  I threw up and it killed my stomach.  He however had nothing wrong he was up and moving laying on his side to sleep etc. Myself I felt just a little more sore so it took me about 5 days before I could lay on my side.  As for the doctor we seen him before the surgery and that was it.  But I didn't expect to much more than that.  We were followed up for a few weeks from our nutrition specialist from Mexico and then follows up with the pcp at home. But all is well.  It's been  a journey and not every day is easy.  But we're succeeding. My sister in law is even thinking about doing it herself in  a few months.  For people contemplating it is would do it over and over again.  I wish I knew about this earlier in my life.

If anyone has any  more questions feel free to ask away!! :)

I have heard a lot of good things about both companies but I ended up going with neither (had my surgery in October 2014 with Dr. Fernando Garcia).  Hope you figure it out.

Topic: RE: Dr Ramos Kelly

I had a lot of questions and he refused to answer them in writing, which I thought was a sign that they would pull a fast one on my with the cost or something.  I had a right to ask a lot of questions--this is my health we were talking about!  But my real issue was with how extremely rude he was and the fact that he said he spoke to Dr. Kelly and Dr. Kelly agreed with his rudeness.  I would absolutely steer clear of this doctor.  If he is rude to a potential patient, what would he be like after surgery if you have a question?

I spoke to Heath when trying to set things up with Dr Kelly as well. We got way off topic several times and I had to ask for certain info again and again. Can you be more specific about what went wrong with him? Did you ever talk to Dr. Kelly directly? Several ppl have said that talking to Dr. Kelly made it all ok but I found it only made it worse. Feel free to PM me if you're willing to chat but want to keep it private.
