Topic: Dr Q vs Dr Pompa vs Dr Illan

Hi everyone! New here. I have been doing research on surgeons for a few days now and I am just curious about what peoples opinions are. I currently have a list of favorites. First is Dr Q, Second is Dr Illan, and third is Dr Pompa.

Does anyone have any experiences to share with these surgeons? Also does anyone have any tips on researching/finding the best doctor for their needs?

A bit of background on me, I am 21 years old, with a BMI of 48.9. I have been dieting since I was 10 and I am ready for this weight to be gone forever, but I am worried about the long wait times offered in Canada.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Topic: RE: How to decide on a Mexican surgeon?

I looked into going to Mexico, but ended up being able to stay in the states. My insurance wouldn't approve me either. I met with a highly recommended surgeon in Texas and he suggested getting my hiatal hernia done at the same time so a majority of it was picked up by my insurance company. I had to pay the surgeon $5,000 (for VSG) and the hospital $3,000 (part of that was my co-pay and other part was for VSG surgery). So for a total of $8,000 I was able to get it done here, and have follow-up care with the surgeon at 2 wks, 3 mos, 6 mos, and 1 year. I feel it was totally worth it.

Good luck on your decision!

Dr Kelly did my sleeve back in October.  I had no issues with my experience.  I did the surgery at the clinic stayed there 2 days after surgery.  The staff were wonderful, I had relatively no pain and no issues.

Hi!

Do you know where I can find Dr. Rodriguez? I have several days trying to contact him at the Belite phone number, but for one reason I don't get responded.

Regards.

Dr Rodolfo Wilhelmy of Mexicali Bariatrics, excellent!!! You pay a little more but you are in an good hospital for 3 nights and the nurses and care coordinators were always available. Dr Cambos is part of this group and he was awesome too, he even stopped by in the late evening to check in his patients!! I have had 2 other friends have procedures there and they have other friends *****ferred them.

Topic: RE: Is Mexicali Bariatric Center Worth the Money?

I just had a sleeve done last weds by Dr Wilhelmy at the Mexicali hospital Almater. I have several friends that went there all gave rave reviews and I agree with them so far. It was much more comforting to have nurses at all times. The facility was wonderful. I had trouble with gas pains, they were right there. I never had blood pressure issues but my pressure was high the first few days and being in a hospital situation was the best place. Very clean facility. Dr Campos was another Dr with the group and he stopped in several times a day to check on me. Mexicali also isn't as crime ridden as Tijuiana either. Glad I chose. Spend the extra money!!

Topic: RE: Anyone been to Florence Hospital?

The Florence Hospital is not the Oasis Hospital they are two different buildings. The Florence is an older Hospital, but has everything you will need and the staff are very good. As for the Hotel with the casino, I think they are referring to the Grand Hotel. It had casino built in the lobby, but the permits were never approved so or remains unopened and unused. It's a good hotel.
