I agree with you. It is my body. Doctors are my advisors not my decision-makers. I fully believe in participatory medicine not patriarchal medicine.

I have Gastric Sleeve scheduled for March with Dr. Gerardo Garcia Alvarez in Cabo San Lucas. I am going through Bariatric Mexico as my facilitator.

I chose Mexico for my upcoming sleeve because I am confident in the quality of services available there. The comparison of prices in Mexico vs. the States is extreme. I have family that lives near the facility that I will receive treatment at and have been assured that it is first class.

I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Alvarez in March. I am going through Bariatric Mexico and the Patient Coordinator JC Urrea. I will keep this post updated as I get closer to my surgery date.

I'm looking in to a mini gastric bypass with Dr. Illan and I can't seem to get much feedback. How are you doing now? Weight loss to date? Did you have the sleeve previously and if so what was your starting weight before the bypass? Sorry for all the question :)

Hi there @NanaB73

Did you end up getting the VSG? How did it go? How are you feeling? What was your experience like (good and bad).

I am scheduled for 2/16 but with BeLiteWeight. Would love to hear back about your experience

I too am researching and reviewing doctors in MX. I have narrowed it down to BeLiteWeight with Dr.

Rodriguez Villarreal

Anyone have experience with this one?? I was sent an actual patient referral list who went thru procedures with this doctor. The patient coordinator has been super supportive, informative and extremely responsive (thus far). Yet, I am nervous.

They discuss patients at bi-monthly team meetings and the patients aren't informed or involved. In my case, after the meeting, they presented me with a "compromise" they conceived on their own without my knowledge, and wouldn't accept any amendment suggested by me to make it an actual compromise. They wouldn't even bring my suggestion back to the team who made the original compromise. I'm not sure how good medicine can be when you remove the patient from the equation.

are they deciding whether you are a candidate for WLS?

Why not choose another surgeon group?
