did you have your surgery done by Dr.Kelly on Jan 10. How did it go I have surgery with him on Feb 13th. I would like hear about your experience with him. Thanks
Hi Irma, of course your are suspicious another country and give away your credit card information? no way I have my surgery in Mexicali no Tijuana but the staff pick me up in San Diego airport and drove me back after surgery, I only did a deposit of $250 Dlls. to and Bank of America account, send my medical information and that's it, all my pre labs and consultation where in Mexicali as soon as I get in there. SO I was very confident about it. I haven't hear nothing from that Dr. but I think that you should do more research, this is something that you need to be very careful, have your surgery with the right Dr. is the thing that matters the most, and of course your health!!

30 lbs that's awesome!!!!
OK so I've been looking at a different Dr than you but by what your saying I want Dr Kelly. Do you have a contact #for him?
Cheers Barb
I am doing great! I can drink fluids like before ... I was worried about dehydration so I am happy fluids go in easily! I have no pain ... My tummy is itchy though .. Lol
i am down almost 30 lbs since my pre-op! Super excited about that!
Yes the exchange rate is terrible but you should just bite the bullet and DO IT ... You won't regret it! Wish you had done it at the same time ... I had a great time visiting with the other patients! We all keep in touch too!

Great to hear all went well, How are you doing 2 weeks Out? I still haven't made my appointment, now the darn exchange is so terrible....just another excuse. I wish I would have been on the ball and come and met you there. And had it over with.

Dana!!! :D
I figured that plane ride would be rough, especially with work Monday! I started work the same day and boy did it take a lot out of me! I'm still having much less energy than usual but I also got my period on top of everything else -_- .
I still have some abdominal soreness after starting work, Prudence says its normal. And I'm not tolerating any kind of powdered protein AT ALL :( I'm going to try some digestive enzymes/probiotics, I heard the antibiotics can wipe out the good stuff in the gut along with the bad, so hopefully that should help restore peace to the kingdom lol.
My love to you and Shelley!!
Good morning chickie,
This is Dana your sleeve buddy. Sounds like things are going well. Both Shelley and I had a bit of a rough trip flying home on Thursday and made for a weekend of a bit of pain and sleep. We are both doing much better now, just a bit tired in the mornings which will get better as time goes.
Dr. Kelly does have a coordinator ... Heath ... But Dr. Kelly phones and talks to you and answers any questions .... I could also email him and he would reply ASAP ..
I did not have to give credit card info .... I paid by cheques .. One to the hospital ... One to Dr.Kelly. I had to take a picture of these and email them to the coordinator so he could verify they were made out correctly. I paid nothing before.

Hi! I had the sleeve done and I'm 12 days out. Doing very well, I think. No nausea or vomiting/diarrhea at all! In a few days I can start soft foods. I miss chewing. My only real pain comes from my skin being irritated by the contestant changing of bandages and they also ripped off a big part of skin with surgical tape. My incisions are healing well. I go back to work tomorrow - I took a week after surgery off. I'm very tired and weak, but I did just have my stomach pulled out. My BMI was 50 with no co-mobidities, so I'm pretty healthy except being fat. That may be why I'm healing well and doing well in general. Surgery is never the easy way out and I am really teaching myself how to eat and drink. I've lost 15 pounds so far, but have stalled the last few days. I'm okay with that - the weight didn't come on overnight so I understand it will take awhile to come off. I'm worried about saggy skin, but hey, it's better than rolls and fat dimples. I can't wait to live a healthier and more active lifestyle!
I chose the sleeve because I didn't want my guts completely rearranged with RNY and the band has been shown to not be as effective down the line and I didn't want that thing in me and have to go for fills.
Anything else I can answer or help you with please let me know. It really helped me to talk to people through both email and in person. There's a great group on Facebook - Bariatric Bad Girls Club, but you're supposed to be close to pre-op or already had surgery.
Good luck to you and just be sure you know what you're getting into!
