I went to Juarez 12/16/2014 and I paid 6400.  I have never heard of a price that low.  I had good references for my surgeons and hospital.

Do you know the Dr.'s they work with? It's often easier to find reviews on the Dr.s themselves than on the business :)

I paid $4600 with Dr. Lopez at Vida Hospital, and had a wonderful experience with no complications.

That sounds like a great deal so long as everything else checks out! Ensure you pick the Dr. you want, and that there are no extra fees that aren't disclosed to you or in your contract.

Good luck!

Didn't use this site, nor the one I started with, Mexico Bariatric Center. I wanted to book directly with a surgeon, and not have these centers "pick" one for me. I got a bad gut feeling after getting two emails from the MBC patient coordinator. I'm not suggesting their surgeons aren't good, but setting this up for myself is a huge decision and I don't want to be treated like "just another vsg patient." I'm going with Dr. Kelly as I was able to contact him through his office, Heath is his coordinator. Dr. Kelly called me a few days after submitting my online medical history and I thought that was fantastic. I've worked in the medical field for 20 years and am very picky. I'm open minded of course knowing that Mexico's health care is different that ours here in the US. I suggest you do extensive research, read the many forum posts here and on other bariatric websites. My surgery is tentative for April 18. Hope this helps. :)

Topic: RE: My Sleeve journey in Mexico With Dr Illian

Best wishes, Chery!  I am a newbie to ObesityHelp, but in browsing the forums just now I saw your post and wanted to say hi!  I am another happy patient of Dr. Illan's (Surgery 11/11/13 - reached goal in six months and now maintaining).

Best,RHW       P.S. For the sake of others researching, it should be noted that his name is spelled ILLAN (only has one "i" in it).  His full/formal name is Jalil ILLAN Fraijo , so many sites (including ObesityHelp's  pull-down menu of surgeons) have him listed under "F"

Topic: RE: Anyone getting surgery with Ramos Kelly in March?

Dr. Kelly is a good surgeon, but he is not a professional. He has posted personal medical information of his patients on Facebook. He is very defensive and aggressive in his way of attacking patients that say anything other than he is the greatest thing since Jesus. I had a not so good experience with him. Not as bad as some (Thank goodness), but he does not handle the truth well at all. Pray you get him on a good day, cause otherwise...it can get ugly.

Thanks everyone!! I been researching all this time, and everything seems to be fine.  One of their coordinators said it's a marketing strategy for their brand new facility. The doctors are well known.  I guess they are willing to lose a little for a few months…..dont' know.

My husband and I go to Mexico every year and we always buy a prepaid cell phone from Walmart for $15.00 plus cost of minutes.  It has to be AT&T though as I am not sure if other companies work there.

Had my surgery with Dr. Fernando Garcia on October 6th.  You are in good hands.  As far as I know you definitely need a passport to cross back into the US.
