Does anyone who has been to Ensenada know if you must have pesos, or will they exchange american currency since they are so close to the border? Also, if I have to, should I get Mexican money here before I go or exchange it once there? Thanks.

Every place we went took US dollars, sometimes you get your change back in Mexican money. Take lots of $1 and 5$ .......basically take your money in small dollar amounts so they can make change. DW
I just used american money the whole time I was down there. Make sure you have small bills, if you flash a $20 they may suddenly not have enough to make you change, so take $1's & $5's instead of $10's & $20's.
