Success in 2mths!
I had my surgery done by Dr. Aceves, I had the lapband procedure. I have lost up to 55lbs thus far and I am getting ready for my first fill...2mths after surgery. I have to admit I was even surprised that I had lost so well with no restriction, but I guess my stomach had adjusted to the band well and I do get fuller quicker. I do have some issues to work with, somedays I eat too quickly...I am working on that by trying to put the fork down, then make sure the food is completely in the stomach before taking another bite. It's a challenge. I know I did overcome some obstacles, especially the other day when I was in a meeting for 8 hours, they had 3 big boxes of doughnuts made by this company that is local and their doughnuts are WONDERFUL...but I chose the apple over the doughnuts...I was so proud of myself!!! Anywho, those getting surgery soon, I wish you the best of luck!
Hey Wendy,
You can do it, just have to put that faith to work!!! Keep steady on the rules for the pouch and you'll do fine. It's been hard, in fact today Ihad my first PB episode , I was having a hard boiled egg...without having any water and burp...it came back up, not a pleasant sight to see. I guess Hard Boiled Eggs might be too much for me to have, so I will try and steer clear, otherwise I have had no problems PBing before...so this was a shocker. I also do alot of exercise, I was 360 lbs prior to surgery, so alot of that weight is water weight but I really worked at it...I've been trying to walk 2.5 miles every day...when it's not raining I am so sick of the rain!!! Anywho, when I can't walk I ride my stationary bike for at least 35-45 mins a day. I need to start working on my upper body, especially the arms so I think I will buy some weights or those bands that people are using along with a dvd and start working out more. I want to wait a tad bit longer before I enter into a gym...still self conscious.
I wish you all the best with your surgery, keep us up to date with your progress. You'll do fine

I would go back to Mexico in a heartbeat, I would say the only downside is of course finding someone to work on you in the US but if you can arrange that ahead of time you'll be fine. For me, it's not a problem I live in California and I will be moving to San Diego this time next year, so I'll only be 2hrs away from Mexicali. Everything there at the hospital was wonderful, the staff was very caring and always ready to help when needed. I think the best thing to do is do your research, know what you will face once you get home and you need someone to do your fill...are you going to be able to go back to Mx for a fill? I know some of the ones in our group have had very bad experiences with American doctors trying to give them fills, that is why I chose to go back to Dr. Aceves...no problems with him and besides it's only $60 for the x-ray. I hope that helps
