Taking the kids?
I'm planning on having my children come with us to Ensenada in June. Any thoughts on this? My son will be a wreck if he's not there with us... he knows I'm having the surgery, and is very scared about it. And my daughter will freak out if my son goes and she doesn't. My son will be 8 and my daughter will be 6 at the time of the trip. Pros and cons? Anybody else take children? Thanks!

Yikes! I personally would not take my kids. I left them with my brother. It was hard, I'd never been away from them overnight before. Mine are 3 and 4. But Mexico was about me, and surgery and recovery. I would not have wanted my children there, honestly. I love them to death, but I needed that full 10 days to take care of myself, and no one else.
If you do bring them, I hope you have someone who can watch them 24/7 so you can relax. I also suggest a seperate hotel room for them, with an adult of course.

Hi...
I wanted to offer support.
Here are the pros...
(These are pros listed by a single mom who went to Ensenada by myself... NO ONE KNEW I left the country or even had WLS... no one.)
Pros...
1) You're kids, after the initial shock of seeing you sick and helpless could have a blast IF .. If IFFFF they are mature 8 and 6 year olds. I say go for it.
2) I strongly suggest you stay at one of the apartments rather than a hotel.
3) The longer you stay in Ensenda, the better having your children with you can become.

CONS
1) This is your sugery, not their vacation.
2) They are going to need supervision and, as children often do, they'll run off when they think they can get away with it if they aren't fearful of leaving you. Unless they're afraid of being kidnapped, they may venture outside while you are sleeping.
3) They're dependence upon could be shaken after seeing you so physically ill. They depend on you. You are their rock.
4) Why are you bringing them?
