I am home and feeling super! I arrived in PV Saturday morning at 9 am. Nathalie was there to pick us up and get to the hotel. Everything went smoothly, thanks to her! I had some troubles with the liquid diet once I hit PV...too much good food!!! So, I indulged. Not sorry. I experienced foods that I wouldn't have otherwise. Shopped, sunned, and relaxed (except for the time my daughter was parasailing over the ocean!). I had a facial (80 minutes of PURE heaven!) while my daughter had a full-body massage. My husband has decided he wants to quit his job here in Arkansas, see if WalMart (an Arkansas company) is hiring in PV, and move! I can't say enough about the resort. Friendly staff, very helpful and polite. The hospital was amazingly clean and cheery. I was disappointed that I didn't get to actually MEET Dr. Joya until I was already in OR and under the influence. I remember him waving to me. My family didn't get to meet him until the day I left. A bit different than here in America where the doctors meet and talk with family and patients. Really Nathalie answered most of the questions I would have liked to have had answered by the doctor. But she was knowledgeable and experienced. My surgery was at 1 p.m. Monday and I was back in my room eating ice by 4:30. I asked to walk about 6:00, but the nurse said no. I waited until it got quiet and about 7:00, I walked on my own around my room (using a trip to the bathroom as my excuse for being up IF I were caught). They consolidated two floors and I was whisked upstairs at 9:00 which was a nice excuse to walk again! One thing I will say...when I asked for meds, I got meds. And there were no middle-of-the-night wake-ups to check my blood pressure and such. I was allowed to sleep! Yay! I was home by noon the next day with meds in hand. I was on the beach tanning, nibbling a lime popsicle, and haggling with vendors by 1:00, in the salon having my fingernails and toenails repolished by 2:30, and sipping broth and tea in the restaurant by 4:00. I did experience some chills and itching from the anesthesia, but a cup of coffee helped the chills. We checked out at 6:00 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday), landed in Dallas at 11:30, and shopped in the Galleria until about 4:30 yesterday afternoon. I had some apple juice and water on the plane (after af few sips of nasty airport coffee), a watermelon juice slush in the Galleria (made by a man whose wife had just lost 100 lbs with her lap band), a bit of broth from chicken noodle soup in Greenville, TX's Cracker Barrel, and water, water, water. I did have a little light cranberry juice in Texarkana and am really having to force myself to drink! Not much interest in food or drink. My daughter is going to drive us to Stoby's (a local restaurant) so she can have brunch; then we will hit Kroger for some food! I have NOTHING in the house! All in all, I'd say this was a success. I'm happy. I have no pain, just a HUGE bruise in the middle of my belly. I'm looking forward to MY OWN shower as the water in PV was hard and really dried my hair and skin out! My sinuses which were completely a-okay in PV have flared and I'm sneezing like a maniac which isn't the most fun thing I've done! Also, I am burping very hard burps that are uncomfortable. But...I think I'm relatively normal, don't you? Off to shop and then home to rest! Hugs to all the folks who have helped me on this terrific journey! I couldn't have done it without you!
