GALLBLADER PROBLEMS

Has anyone ever had problems with their gallblader after surgery? Has anyone ever had their gallblader removed at the same time as the surgery?

I had my surgery in Nov of 04 and am now having gallbladder problems. At the time, my surgeon asked me if I wanted it out and I said no. Now I wish I would have had him take it out at the same time as my RNY. I have been in pain for 3 months and am finally getting it out in a couple of weeks. If you have the chance, I would have them take it right then so you won't have to worry about it later! A

In doing my research about 80% of the doctors (here in the states at least) take out the gallbladder as part of the operation. So there must be something to it. I am lucky, I have already had mine removed...

I had gall bladder problems before surgery. I knew I had to have my gall bladder out so we planned it that was. Dr. Rumbaut took it out at the same time I had the lap RNY. It cost me an extra $850. -Pam
