I have about $5500 saved up and would like to know the cost of some of the doctors that perform the rny so I know what my goal to saving should be ..Thanks

Are you saving for a lapband? Or RNY? If RNY, do you want the procedure preformed open or laparoscopy? Bridget

I want the Rny.I would perfer lap due to the recovery time but would do open if lesser. Renee

I had my surgery by Dr. Joya. It was a lap RNY. The cost was 12,000. this included my hospital stay, my airline tickets and two nights at the resort in PV. I believe it is now 12,500. I would strongly recommend Dr. Joya. I think he is just the greatest. If you have any other questions I would be happy to answer. Kathy 316/278/????

I would not chose open just to save money! Lap is much better recovery wise for pain, chances of infection and chances of herniation of incisions. Depending on how big your tummy is, a big open incision could develop a hernia very easily. I went with Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey because I wanted lap and had the best qualifications and references. Sure I paid more, and getting the money together was hard, but well worth it. Surgery, hotel and airfare was $16000. I used Citifinancial for a personal loan. I agree about not chosing one procedure over the other just based on which one is cheaper. Anyway, wish you the best. FYI in Ensenada my surgeon will charge me 12,500. Tina
