I was all for getting the surgery and found out that medicare will no longer be paying for this for anyone over 65 of which i turn next week. I am checking into self pay in Mexico . Am looking for the best doctor there that is the most reasonable....I know all of you have been to Mexico to have surgery are any of you 65 or older and what are your results. Thanks for any info.

Jan: All I can tell you is to make sure you check out all of our profiles and you can get all the information you need as far as doctors!! I dont know for sure, but I have heard some really good things about Dr. Joya. you may want to check with him. the cost right now for the RNY is $12,500 and the lapband is $8000. I have talked to a few people that have had the surgery with him and had nothing but good things to say. hes also certified here in the states. I speek with a girl that had hers with him everyday, and she said she would do it all over again if she had to. I hope this info helps some. I know its not 100% but I hope it helps.
