Hi all. Just wanted to say hi. My surgery is getting really close and i am excited and scared all at the same time. Jan. 10 with Dr. Kuri....... any good suggestions for things to have around the house? I know that they say your tastes change after surgery so i don't want to stalk up too much. But there must be some must-haves for the days immediately after. Also ideas for protein drinks...any good ones?? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I bought unflavored protien powder, that way you can add it to almost everything you eat and drink without changing the taste. I also got some chocolate unjury and love it. I made sure I had more broth, juices, jello and sugar free popcicles at home for when I got back. The popcicles were a life saver, as it was my main source of liquid at first as I couldn't get any water down without feeling sick to my stomach. I agree with the previous post. I did a lot of strained soup, popsicles (the ones on a stick not in a plastic sleeve), crystal light, jello. Then pudding, mashed potatoes, applesauce, stuff like that. You're right not to stock up. You won't use it all. I use unflavored Unjury protein powder. Right now I've been mixing it with hot cocoa (no sugar added of course). That gives me 22 grams of protein in 3/4 cup of hot cocoa. And the Unjury doesn't change the flavor a bit. It will make your clear drinks cloudy looking though. That was a turn off for me. If you don't have one, you might consider a cheap sno cone machine (I got mine at WalMart for less than $20). You can use that fine ice in your crystal light or jus****er. It seems to make it easier to get your fluids in. Best wishes on your upcoming surgery. Kina 220/153/120-130
