Hi Wendy While you are reseaching please check out Dr. Aceves., He is fabulous and in Mexicali, just s of the border. I had lapband done by him for 8900 and included everything but airline ticket. He also performs lap RNY and although a little more costlier than RNY it could be an option for you. Do check him out Happy NEW year and new you ttfn Sari

Thanks for your response SariThe Lap band is much cheaper than the RNY but I think I'd benefit more from the RNY.. I have a Hiatal Hernia and it is pretty bad.. only surgery can fix it. THe Dr said that when I have the RNY they could fix it for me. Thanks again Wendy

Hi, What type of surgery are you going to have? I had lapband with Dr Rumbaut in Monterrey. My entire experience was five star from the time I stepped off of the plane until I stepped back on. The hotel, the hospital, everything was beautiful! My cost was 10,600 for everything excluding plane fare. I very highly recommend Dr. Rumbaut and the Unversity Hospital there in Monterrey. Please have follow up care in place before you go, especially if you're having lap band and will need a doctor for fills. . . .very important!!! Good Luck, Brigitte

Hi! I am in the process of deciding where to go too, I heard that a surgeon from the bariatric program at UCLA is moving his practice to Tijuana & Ensenada. He has the most extensive experience with the Lap RNY in Mexico, I was told he has done over 400. He just did a nurse from Fontana 2 weeks ago in Tijuana for 12,500 and she is doing great. I'm another Dr. Rumbaut Lap RNY patient. Had my surgery in July 2005 and now down 95 pounds. I'm hoping to make 100 at the six month mark in a couple of weeks. My cost was $14,400 for the Lap RNY. Included all doctors' fees, hospital (first class with private room) and daily doctor visits back at the hotel. During slow times sometimes they'll drop the rate slightly to fill a vacant slot. They didn't charge more when I stayed in the hospital an extra night (I had planned laproscopic gall bladder surgery at the same time for an extra $850). Hotel, airfare, food (for hubby) were all extra. I'm thrilled with my decision to have the surgery and with the doctor. He's done almost 800 RNY surgeries. Now does only the Lap RNY (almost 300 surgeries) and Lap Band (his site says almost 2,700 surgeries). -Pam
