How much did you pay?
Wendy, I went to Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Total cost was $12,000 when I went in August. That was surgery, hospital fees, roundtrip airfare, hotel.
I had an excellent experience. You should check out my profile. I have some pictures from the hotel grounds and the hospital.
Best wishes

$12700 after my blood transfusion. That amount covered hospital, tests, surgery, doctors, hotel, medication and airfare. I also paid $300 for my honey's airfare so he could be by my side.
The care and facilities down there are truly amazing. My only advice is to have follow up care in place back home before you leave. That'll save you a lot of headache.

I don't have any pictures of my incision but it's very faint just like that. I was horrible at following through with the Mederma and the silicone pads, but honestly I would say that if you have other scars on your body that fade like that, you have a better chance of having your RNY scar do the same. Some people get keloid scars - ones that are red and raised. I have read on a previous profile that one gal was prone to keloid scars and she was using vitamin E to help with the scarring. It was later she found ou that Vitamin E will speed up healing but it will also speed up the keloid process and make it worse. So if you are prone to red scars, you may be the type who would benefit more from Mederma and/or the silicone pads.
Hope that helps!

Thank you Wendy. The hotel down there was quite magnificant! We stayed in a resort... a pool to every 3 rooms. LOL We were right on the beach... fireworks on the weekend and everything. The only 2 things that bugged me were the fact that there was no refridgeration (we had to get ice from a cooler) and the pillows were like little rocks.
For the first three months following surgery not a doctor in the US would touch me. The mantra was always the same "Go back to Mexico". Dr. Joya suggested I should stay in Mexico until I was healed... finacially that wasn't an option. I wi**** had been. Now that I'm over 3 months out the doctors are more willing to help me. Now if we could just figure out what's going on! lol
Happy new year hon!!
*hugs*
