Not only is the surgery deductible, but the airfare, hotel, meals, transportation to and from the hospital, etc. are deductible. You'll need to do some research on it. It's been several years since I had my surgery. Vicky P.

Happy New Year, So I've finally found where so many have gone! I just want to caution you about trying to deduct surgery and related costs. I too had been so happy about deducting medical costs. Unfortunately, my H&R rep said, "No." The good news is that that was for the 2002 year, so laws may have changed. I'll keep my fingers (and legs now that I can do it) crossed for you!

Yup, indeed the laws changed after that and you can deduct the cost of the surgery. I did last year and got pretty much all my tax money back! Dina
