Looking for a DR

Hello all, my husband and I are both considering going down to Mexico for the lap band. He had wanted to get our surgeries done at the same time, but I didn't think that was a good idea so we've decide I'll go first. We've been trying to narrow the list of Dr's, as there seems to be quite a few with a wide variety of prices. Does anyone have any stories, good or bad, that might help me in this journey? I'm hoping to schedule for January, does anyone have surgery already scheduled?

Hi. I am scheduled for surgery on Jan. 10 with Dr. Kuri. I have done plenty of research on the doctors and I feel very comfortable with my decision. I have met some of his patients personally and they all loved him and have only good things to say about their whole experience. My cost was $8950.00 for the whole procedure. Airfare was separate. If i might ask, why do the surgery separate?

I feel if we get them done at the same time, I will end up taking care of him, and letting myself get sick or have a longer recovery period. It might just be me getting paranoid, but if anything goes wrong, I want someone to take care of me. I know, sounds stupid, but I can't help myself.....

hi Alli My husband and I are going to Mexico together to have RNY with Dr Rumbaut on January 18th. He has agreed to do both of us on the same day. Neither of us want to go alone, and we simply can't afford to go down there twice. Plus, we get to share a hotel, and save a little money that way, lol. Good luck. Alli, Check out my profile. Dr. Joya has done many lapbands (I had RNY) and he was great, so was Puerto Vallarta! I think his lapbands are $8000, not sure. Best wishes, Kina 220/156/130

I'm scheduled for January 10 with Dr. Kuri in Tijuana--haven't met anyone with his organization yet, but lots of e-mails and phone calls and feel comfortable with them.

I had Dr. Rumbaut for RNY in June. He has done many couples. You would be in the best hands with him and his staff. You will have surgery in a real university hospital, not some "surgery center". I had lap band surgery with Dr. Huacuz in Tijuana last December. Things went perfectly. The hospital was spotless, the nurse spoke English well, and the hotel for recovery was very nice. Dr. Huacuz even came by the hotel at least once a day just to check on my recovery progress, answer questions, etc. In fact I was so pleased with his surgery that I went back last week for a breast lift and implants. In this case Dr. Huacuz brought in a specialist for the lift, and Dr. Huacuz assisted. Again everything went absolutely perfectly. I just got home last night and I feel wonderful.
