OMG I am SO sick trying to find different food you don't need to chew.. I stare at people eating and all I can think about is food. Day in, day out it's "Gee I wish I could eat that." I'm barely a month out and have only been actually taking in food for 2 weeks because of my complications... but I'm insane with wanting food. This evening I totally regret having gastric bypass... I wish I had stayed fat! I actually snuck a tiny piece of pizza yesterday.. didn't hurt too much but I know if I keep doing stupid things like that I'll punch another hole in my stomach and I'll end up starting all over yet again. *sighs* Tell me this changes... I've lost 40 pounds... so I should be happy... but all I wanna do tonight is scream and cry. ~Audrey~

I know completely how you are feeling. First of all, stop watching people eat!!!! Silly! Then turn the tv off. When I have this feeling, 95% of the time the tv is on. I go to my computer, log on to the internet and look at skinny clothes. It takes my mind off food and it gets me excited about loosing the weight! The MOST important part is to keep your mind busy and off food. Busy! Busy! Busy! I spend a lot of time on the comp and I also read as much as possible. Cleaning also helps. I for one hate it, so I have my hubby do all the scrubbing and vaccuuming, but I am a damn good straightener-upper!! 40 lbs. is fabulous! Keep up the good work! It will start to slow down now, so get walking as much as possible!! Cheers! Lorraine

I'm curious if you are eating any solids at all other than the pizza you snuck? I know different surgeons have different post op diets, but I know that with Dr. Aguirre we went straight to a soft food diet and were allowed to eat quite a bit more variety than what I notice other surgeons allow. As for punching another hole in your stomach, I'm not sure what you mean by that. Did you have an ulcer? If not and you are thinking that eating anything is going to ruin you, you can lay that thought to rest. Just eating something you can chew is not going to hurt you. Yes, you need to go easy at first and chew like hell and all, but just because you didn't have something pureed doesn't mean you're going to pop a staple or something. Take care - I think you'll find it does get better. Dina

Thanks for the support you two. I'm better this morning. I didn't have an ulcer, I had a fistula which is a hole in your new stomach. Dr. Joya has you on a clear liquid diet for the first week, a full liquid diet for the next 2 I think, then blended food for another couple of weeks. With the fistula I had I have to be extra careful... my stomache actually feels odd when I burp or eat... almost like I developed a cavity outside my stomache. I know that can't be true otherwise I'd be sick but it does feel odd. Ok, time to find something else to do than think of food! LOL *hugs* ~Audrey~

Honestly, nothing caused them. Sometimes it just happens.. I had internal bleeding within 12 hours of surgery then a fistula after a week. I have to say though, Dr. Joya took excellent care of me and they even asked if I'd stay in PV longer so they could care for me. I needed to get home but I kinda wish I had stayed. Oh and so you know... everyone who was down there at the same time I was had NO complications. Just me. lol Don't worry, they'll take care of you no matter what happens and chances are you won't have any problems. ~Audrey~
